'End Timers' Urge Bush -'Bring on God's Nuclear Doomsday' and Rapture to Heaven for the Faithful. Bush's 'End Times' supporters believe this would be the biblical Armageddon, as foretold in an obscure passage in the Bible. They believe Bush is God's chosen one, and are urging him to make it all happen. They believe it will result in a rapture of the chosen faithful few to heaven. Almost everything Bush has done in the Middle East, and not done, is consistent with these religious bunkum beliefs.

President George W. Bush has become dangerously steeped in ideas of Armageddon, the Apocalypse, an imminent war with Satanic forces in the Middle East, and an urgency to construct an American theocracy to fulfill God's end-of-days plan, according to close observers.
Historians and investigative journalists following the "end-time Christian" movement have grown alarmed at the impact it may be having on Bush's Middle East policies, including the current war in Iraq, the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian crisis, the strife in Lebanon and the administration's repeated attempts to find a cause for war against Iran.

Every dictatorship depends on apathy, ignorance, confusion created by pro-dictatorship propaganda, disinterest, gullibility, criminal or and/or self-interest of its victims, and fear of reprisals by people if they openly oppose the emerging or established dictatorship. US Using Nuclear Weapons in Iraq

DU weapons spread toxic radioactive dust wherever they are used. With a half life of 4 billion years, the poisonous effects are gradually spreading around the world causing death and disease. If you decide on going for global domination, that means lots of lies, endless wars and killings and misery for all except those few people at the top of the military-industrial-political complex. President Eisenhower warned about the malign influence power of the "military-industrial complex" just before he left office in 1960. Almost 50 years later it is much more powerful. Wars are fabulously profitable for the few.

It is well-known that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby - once Vice President Cheney's most trusted adviser - has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for perjury. Lying. Not a white lie, mind you. A killer lie. Scooter Libby deliberately poured poison into the drinking water of democracy by lying to federal investigators, for the purpose of obstructing justice.

World's Greatest Oil Consumer and Polluter

Fighting Wars for Oil to Fight Wars

Sixteen gallons of oil. That's how much the average American soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan consumes on a daily basis – either directly, through the use of Humvees, tanks, trucks, and helicopters, or indirectly, by calling in air strikes. Multiply this figure by 162,000 soldiers in Iraq, 24,000 in Afghanistan, and 30,000 in the surrounding region (including sailors aboard U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf) and you arrive at approximately 3.5 million gallons of oil: the daily petroleum tab for U.S. combat operations in the Middle East war zone.
Multiply that daily tab by 365 and you get 1.3 billion gallons: the estimated annual oil expenditure for U.S. combat operations in Southwest Asia. That's greater than the total annual oil usage of Bangladesh, population 150 million – and yet it's a gross underestimate of the Pentagon's wartime consumption.

The British Army rebels against propaganda

In his latest column for the New Statesman, John Pilger quotes from a letter received from a British army officer serving in Iraq and sent to the BBC. The officer calls the war unwinnable and wrong, and appeals to the media not to swallow "the office/White House line". For the first time, journalists are now being scrutinised by the soldiers whose war they report.

The new surge to 200,000 US troops in Iraq plus thousands of mercenary contractor-soldiers, the biggest US Embassy in the world, permanent US military bases and the Bush administration's new admission that they may occupy Iraq for as long as they occupied South Korea, 60 years, are all hard evidence that the Bush neocon administration never intended to leave Iraq . As seen below the US Democrats reinforce the Bush regime on this, and will keep on funding the war for as long as it takes.
The US and UK may soon make war on Iran to try and add this country to their joint imperial conquest.

Iraq Occupation Coming to a Head Over Oil

The situation in Iraq is coming to a head. Oil workers have been on strike for three days and are being threatened by the Iraqi government and surrounded by the Iraqi military. The Parliament passed a resolution urging an end to the U.S. occupation and has refused to act on the oil law the U.S. is demanding. Both the Democrats in Congress and the Bush Administration have united around the passage of the oil law as the top benchmark for the Iraqi government.

... Americans will be fooled again and swallow any accusation Bush offers, as they did with his litany of lies to justify the war on Iraq. They have not been educated about how the US and other states have used covert 'false flag' operations and then blamed the nation they wish to attack. They have been conditioned to believe a similar litany of lies about Iran and most now regard Iran with fear and hate, as do the Republicans below. The 'false flag' provides them with phony 'justification' for an attack and they will believe Iran did it.

Phil Goff's warning to the 20th anniversary meeting in Christchurch June 9 of NZ's nuclear free zone is 100% correct. World survival is threatened by 27,000 nuclear weapons, some on 'hair-trigger' ready-to-launch status and a total of 8 nuclear weapon nations. At any time the world can be destroyed "by nuclear accident, miscalculation or deliberate act of madness" as President Kennedy warned at the UN in 1963. Even worse are new US nuclear weapons and new doctrines allowing the President to wage pre-emptive nuclear war, and also introduce nuclear weapons use into any conflict. This massive threat means everyone should be worried and active helping to stop this nuclear madness. New Zealand 's nuclear free law is more relevant today as Phil Goff says, than in 1984.

Wellington - On the 20th anniversary of New Zealand's anti-nuclear legislation, the country's politicians have called for a southern hemisphere wide nuclear-free zone and for an end to investment in nuclear weapons, according to statements Saturday.
The New Zealand Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament, and Arms Control Act was passed on June 8, 1987. It resulted in the country being suspended from the Anzus (Australia, New Zealand and Australia) defence pact with the US and Australia.
But Trade and Disarmament Minister Phil Goff told a forum in the South Island city of Christchurch that he wanted the whole of the southern hemisphere to become a nuclear-free zone within 20 years. He also criticized nations' complacency.
'The threat to the world of nuclear weapons grows as more countries acquire possession of them... With the world having lived with nuclear weapons for over sixty years, a key challenge today is international complacency about the threat they pose,' he said in a statement.
A co-leader of New Zealand's left-wing Green party, which is in the government coalition, also demanded the country withdraw NZ$30 million of taxpayer investment in companies involved in nuclear weapons production.

Only one Republican Presidential candidate, Ron Paul, argues against nuclear bombing of Iran. All others accept Bush lies about Iran and therefore the possible need to nuclear bomb Iran to prevent it from making nuclear weapons.
The Democrats are not much better. They accept Bush's Iran lies including the alleged need to possibly nuclear bomb Iran but they want to talk first to see if Iran will capitulate to US demands.

US Republicans Favour Iran Nuclear Strike

Republican candidates for US president agreed on Tuesday that Iran must not develop atomic weapons even if a tactical nuclear strike is needed to stop it and accused Democrats of being soft on the issue.

With scarcely a mention in the mainstream media, President Bush has ordered up a plan for responding to a catastrophic attack.
In a new National Security Presidential Directive, Bush lays out his plans for dealing with a “catastrophic emergency.”
Under that plan, he entrusts himself with leading the entire federal government, not just the Executive Branch.
And he gives himself the responsibility “for ensuring constitutional government.”
He laid this all out in a document entitled " National Security Presidential Directive /NSPD 51" and "Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-20."

Hartung and Berrigan document that Bush is increasing nuclear weapon expenditures, and developing nuclear war-fighting doctrines and new nuclear weapons while he portrays his chosen target (Iran) as being a nuclear threat. But Iran is within the NPT agreements by enriching uranium to power Iran's nuclear reactors.

Is Bush Leading Us to Nuclear War?

Only days before the fifth anniversary of September 11, President George W. Bush addressed military officers in Washington to warn that nuclear-armed terrorists could "blackmail the free world and spread their ideologies of hate and raise a moral threat to America."
This alarmist vision was accompanied by the White House's release of "A National Strategy for Combating Terrorism," which painted a picture of a "troubling potential WMD terrorism nexus emanating from Tehran." The administration is building the case for war against Iran - a job made easier by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent announcement that Iran can now enrich uranium on an industrial scale - despite the fact that many Iran-watchers and nuclear experts consider their claims of enrichment capacity to be an overblown boast.

If You Think Bush Is Evil Now, Wait Until He Nukes Iran

The war in Iraq is lost. This fact is widely recognized by American military officers and has been recently expressed forcefully by Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq during the first year of the attempted occupation. Winning is no longer an option. Oil and social gains: Why the U.S. is targeting Iran

Why is Iran increasingly a target of U.S. threats? Who in Iran will be affected if the Pentagon implements plans, already drawn up, to strike more than 10,000 targets in the first hours of a U.S. air barrage on Iran?

Here is another classic case of US demonising and subverting a small oil-producing country - Venezuela.
Iraq is suffering from a completely unjustified illegal US war based on lies and similar demonisation before the US bombing and invasion. Is Venezuela also on the Bush military hit list and soon to suffer from similar covert or overt military US action?
Pelosi demonstrates that whoever Bush chooses as an enemy, the US Democrats also adopt as an enemy. They justified the war on Iraq, and the Democratically-controlled Congress is continuing to fund it. Most Democrats have indicated that they back a US war on Iran which would spark a series of disasters. The US Democrats don't seem concerned about that, or the lies upon which it is based.
It will be a sad day for humanity if Bush tries to subvert and/or invade this small South American Democracy.

Letter to Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House

Madam Speaker Pelosi,
I am writing in the opportunity to respond to your May 30 statement on Venezuela's decision not to renew the broadcast license of Radio Caracas Television (RCTV). In it, you accused President Hugo Chávez of engaging in efforts to “suppress the media.” I would like to assure you that the decision was made in full accordance with Venezuela's laws and does not represent a threat to the country's vibrant media or the ability of the Venezuelan people to receive information and opinion that is critical of the government. Equally, and as many observers have pointed out, since President Chavez came to power the government has tried to democratize the media to foster a diversity of voices to combat the historical monopoly on the broadcasting of information that causes so much harm to any democracy.

New Zealand's slogan should be "NZ Clean Green and Nuclear Free". The NZ nuclear free reputation sells NZ tourism and our nuclear radiation-free agricultural products.
The reason for including our nuclear free status is that if NZ becomes contaminated with nuclear radiation our agricultural industries and economy could suffer a mortal blow.

Environment Day highlights 'one-in-a-generation chance'

On World Environment Day, the message to leaders is clear, says Ministry for the Environment chief executive Hugh Logan.
New Zealanders want their country to stay clean and green in the face of rising energy consumption and the threat of climate change.
"We have a one-in-a-generation chance to improve standards of living by putting sustainability at the heart of our decision-making," he said.

Defense Officials Tried to Reverse China Policy, Says Powell Aide

The same top Bush administration neoconservatives who leap-frogged Washington's foreign policy establishment to topple Saddam Hussein nearly pulled off a similar coup in U.S.-China relations—creating the potential of a nuclear war over Taiwan, a top aide to former Secretary of State Colin Powell says.

Mohammed El Baradei is head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. One of his jobs is to oversee that all states are obeying the terms of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. His inspectors go into countries like Iran, inspect all nuclear facilities and issue reports as to whether Iran is complying with NPT terms and whether or not it has nuclear weapons, or are developing nuclear weapons. They reported that Iran has no nuclear weapons and has no nuclear weapons development programme.

IAEA chief warns of "crazies" seeking Iran war

The United Nations nuclear watchdog chief warned on Friday against the "new crazies" advocating military action to halt Iran's nuclear programme and said he did not want to see another war like that in Iraq.
"I wake every morning and see 100 Iraqis, innocent civilians, are dying," International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director Mohamed ElBaradei said in an interview for BBC Radio.
"I have no brief other than to make sure we don't go into another war or that we go crazy into killing each other. You do not want to give additional argument to new crazies who say 'let's go and bomb Iran'," he said in a documentary, excerpts from which were published on the BBC's Web site in advance.

While the polls show that most Americans reject Bushism, there is little questioning, action against, or even awareness of the obvious fascist trends and what might follow.

Dark Secrets at the Front

Prisoners and interrogators are both brutalized in a war that changes who we are.
..."Less than half of other soldiers and Marines (in Iraq) believed that non- combatants should be treated with dignity and respect and well over a third believed that torture should be allowed to save the life of a fellow team member.

Vonnegut accurately names the Bush medical ailment as that of having a psychopathic personality. This fits Bush and his associates and their behaviour like a glove. They have no guilt for their many lies and no remorse for their crimes. They feel justified in whatever they do. Thus Bush claims he is in communication with God who advises him. This kind of delusion in a 'so-called' Christian country like the US is accepted as perfectly normal. To the true believers this delusion is real and meritorious. It proves Bush is a man of God and is therefore virtuous and heavenly inspired. Bush's followers show that belief reinforces the Bush delusion, thus helping immunize Bush against advice contrary to his own psychopathic wishes and impulses.
Enlightened Americans will have to stop Bush and his associates with impeachment before he can destroy more countries and trigger a World War III.

Book - A Man without a Country

... He's direct in saying what he thinks about the president and his pals ("George W. Bush has gathered around him upper-crust C-students who know no history or geography, plus not-so-closeted white supremacists, . . . plus, most frighteningly, psychopathic personalities, . . . the medical term for smart, personable people who have no consciences"), ...

The more I read, the more convinced I am that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job engineered by the Bush Administration. But I would be relieved to be able to change my mind if anyone was able to answer the many questions on our site. They can start with the amazing facts and questions below. This was a major false flag operation that worked well and was believed. It still serves as a launch pad for Bush's 'wars on terror'. Because of his very low popularity and growing public doubts, the Bush Administration will probably launch another convincing 'false flag' like 9/11, then blame Iran as justification to launch his much rumoured attack on Iran. He has marshalled a huge naval strike force of ships and planes off Iran's coast for this purpose.

Double the US troops in Iraq by Christmas, according to Robert Parry. Some have suggested that increased US troops are to cope with increasing resistance if Bush attacks Iran . They may be used against Iran after Bush launches a bombing attack.

.... The unspeakable suffering of these parents of dead soldiers stands in marked contrast to the maneuvering over the Iraq War now underway across the river in Washington. There, George W. Bush appears quietly planning another escalation of the Iraq War - possibly doubling U.S. combat troops by Christmas - and many members of Congress are frightened of the political repercussions if they stand up to him.

The following exposure shows very unhealthy trends - that spies are being infiltrated into environmental and peace groups and that all their records, emails, personnel and plans are being catalogued and acted on by those employing the spies.  We don't know what is being done with these records; whether government agencies are given access to them, and whether the activists involved are now listed as people to watch by government agencies. These questions should be investigated and vigorous action taken to stop and expose any such actions. We cannot expect to have a free, questioning, morally-involved and acting society if people are intimidated into silence by such fascist threats.

'I was paid to betray protesters'

The tactics by Thompson & Clark Investigations are believed to be a first for New Zealand and have shocked the groups and civil rights supporters, who have demanded answers from the government about taxpayer-funded spying.

An Auckland private investigation firm is paying agents to infiltrate and spy on environmental, peace and anti-vivisection groups for its clients, including state-owned enterprise Solid Energy.

In the Bible both Mark and Mathew refer to Jesus as a carpenter and carpenter's son. In the following article two UK carpenters were found innocent by a jury in England for planning to prevent US B52's from committing war crimes by dropping bombs to kill or maim Iraqi people.
Jesus was an inspired social reformer and activist in his day and acted against those committing crimes against the people. So today's two carpenters are carrying on a fine tradition. They risked great danger and years in prison for what they did. They deserve praise and recognition for their contribution to humanity. Fairford Two strike blow for anti-war protesters

If they were to do it over again, Phil Pritchard says, they would bring less stuff. He and Toby Olditch were carrying "silly amounts" when they broke into RAF Fairford on the eve of the Iraq war: bolts and screws to be placed inside the B-52s' engines, pictures of smiling Iraqi children to be stuck on to the payload doors, toothbrushes and stamps to be used in prison, and flashing headbands in the hope that they would look too ridiculous to be shot.

The continuous destruction and killing of Iraqis (655,000 so far) by the Americans both openly and covertly through their militias is yet more evidence of the scale of the war crimes being committed by the Bush Administration and their illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq since 2003. All the excuses and lies of the Bush Administration to justify this illegal behaviour have been exposed again and again. There is no reason whatsoever for the Bush Administration to continue to impose this genocide on the Iraqi people. Operation Freedom From Iraqis

Hugh Scott's piece was a comment on the article which follows, I felt it should also be featured as it is so good and to the point.
Bush could start a war with Iran anytime with a surprise pre-emptive strike, perhaps nuclear as mentioned by several informed commentators. He may not wait until 2008. Bush will need some kind of event or manufactured provocation he can use to justify a sudden attack.

I'm convinced President Bush will order the bombing of Iran's nuclear facilties in 2008, - for three reasons. .....

The hard right in the U.S. has tried to exploit the arrest of Middle East scholar Haleh Esfandiari to create a reason for America's conservatives to attack Iran.
Beyond the simple human rights considerations, there are two other aspects of this grim matter that deserve mention. First is the way in which the intellectual elite in this country pick and choose their battles. Haleh Esfandiari, whom I know, certainly deserves the protest being stirred on her behalf. But we have many cases of abuse of freedom of travel and speech -- some committed by the U.S. government -- that gain little notice. Why some and not others? To some extent, the protest in effect reflects U.S. policy preferences and the drumbeat of anti-Iran media coverage in this country.

Rep. Jim McDermott has done a great service for all Americans by exposing in Congress how the US acting through its State Department and the C.I.A. overthrew the democratically-elected Mossedagh government in Iran in 1953. He exposed that now the Bush regime has authorised the C.I.A. to do it again. I have included 3 of the very excellent comments on this article that follow this article.

Although the majority of Americans are against the war in Iraq, and disapprove of Bush's handling of it, there are many indicators that war tragedies and perhaps much great disasters are just beginning.

Americans now view the war in Iraq more negatively than at any time since the war began, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
Six in 10 Americans surveyed say the United States should have stayed out of Iraq, and more than three in four say that things are going badly there - including nearly half who say things are going very badly, the poll found.

These new US nuclear-permissive doctrines are the greatest threat to human existence ever conceived. Yet they are packaged and sold to the public by an ever-willing media, as a perfectly normal development.  Once nuclear weapons are used, escalation can quickly follow as more nuclear weapon nations become involved. A sudden, unexpected 'out-of-the-blue' nuclear weapon strike is one of the characteristics of a pre-emptive nuclear war. The theory behind it is to catch the target nation off-guard and destroy it's weapons before it can retaliate.

The extent of the United States predicament across the Middle East, and the policies being introduced to meet it, is increasing the risk of a crisis with Iran. What is the US defence budget? Is it only the $481 billion requested by the Whitehouse? Or should other defence costs be added to this total in order to give a more balanced picture? Such added costs as the US nuclear weapons program -$17 billion. Iraq and Afghanistan wars $ 142 billion. Miscellaneous defence costs $5 billion. Grand total of $647 billion. If you add more invisible costs such as cost impact of Iraq war on global oil prices and lowered consumption of US goods and services by people in other nations, and long-term health care for wounded US veterans the price can rise to between 1 trillion and $2.2 trillion.

They don't call us the sole superpower for nothing. Paul Wolfowitz might be looking for a new job right now, but the term he used to describe the pervasiveness of U.S. might back when he was a mere deputy secretary of defense – hyperpower – still fits the bill.

Chalmers Johnson is an eminent US historian and gives us a comprehensive look at the American Empire today. In any kind of a normal world run by normal human beings with some established values and standards, the present disastrous trends would continue. Bush and his Republicans would be overwhelmingly voted out of office in 2008. But this is not a normal world and the Bush regime is run by people with few or no values and standards.

I According to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll , released on April 26, 2007, some 78% of Americans believe their country to be headed in the wrong direction. Only 22% think the Bush administration's policies make sense, the lowest number on this question since October 1992, when George H. W. Bush was running for a second term -- and lost. What people don't agree on are the reasons for their doubts and, above all, what the remedy -- or remedies -- ought to be.

It's amazing that Fidel Castro managed to survive all the US assassination attempts to kill him. Castro has introduced many reforms in all fields, particularly free health and educational services. Rather than earning US approval, this has not diminished US government and media demonization of Cuba or US sanctions against it. It makes one wonder how long Hugo Chavez of Venezuela will survive if US tries similar assassination attempts on him. Like Castro defeating a US-based dictatorship, Chavez has also defied the US by his crime of nationalising Venezuela 's oil for Venezuelans. Given the record of US installed and supported military dictatorships in Latin America, will the Bush regime, or those that may take over the Bush mantle, go back to this strategy?

The Secret War series In a highly readable and informative style, Fabián Escalante reviews over four decades of attempts to kill Fidel Castro—involving weapons that ranged from exploding cigars and poison pens to grenades and bazookas. As the former director of Cuban counterintelligence, Escalante played a significant role in frustrating many of these assassination plans, made by the CIA and the Mafia under a project codenamed "Executive Action." Although melodramatic and at times quite comical, these plots were deadly serious—and illegal, as subsequent U.S. government inquiries such as the 1975 Church Commission concluded.

Two of the important US objectives in the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq is to build permanent military bases in Iraq to act as a centre of US military activities in the region, and occupation of the country, and to secure a permanent share of Iraq 's oil for US corporations. By sheer brutality, wanton destruction, mass murder (655,000 dead), torture and imprisonment of Iraqis they are achieving their goals. That 26 million Iraqis live there and own the country is an inconvenient reality that the Bush Administration is dealing with in its own usual way. By the creation and use of death squads (the Salvador option) and orchestrating an Iraqi civil war, they can create the kind of chaos they need to justify to Americans that 'we must stay in Iraq to help our allies defeat the evil al-Qaeda terrorists'.

Something really momentous took place inside Iraq's Green Zone last week and if you're looking for a full report on it in the U.S. major media save yourself the trouble. As far as they are concerned, the fact that over half of Iraq's parliament joined in a call for setting a withdrawal date of the “coalition” force from their country, it was a non-event worthy of scant or belated mention. Likewise was the story of how the Senate in Afghanistan voted the same day to call for the exodus of the occupation forces from that country as well. Some major newspapers have yet to record that fact.

Congratulations on your May 13 article by Irene Chapple on Justice Thomas's statements on Blair as a war criminal, as by association are others, such as the George Bush Administration. The Bush/Blair deceptions to gain support before launching their illegal war on Iraq are one of the major crimes of our era.

A New Zealand Supreme Court judge has launched a blistering attack on outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair, effectively calling him a war criminal for his role in the Iraq conflict.
Justice Ted Thomas, who retired last year but still presides over ongoing cases, told the Sunday Star-Times yesterday that Blair "deceived Cabinet, parliament and the British people" over the war.

‘Tony Blair's contempt for Middle Eastern lives has already been adequately demonstrated in Iraq and Lebanon . His lack of genuine concern for British servicemen is demonstrated by his steadfast refusal to meet even one parent of a dead British serviceman or woman killed in the wars he created.'

General Batiste says to Bush: "...you did not listen. You continue to pursue a failed strategy that is breaking our great Army and Marine Corps....you have placed our nation in peril. Our only hope is that Congress will act now to protect our fighting men and women". He said to US Senators "protect America not George Bush".

In an act of defiance perhaps not seen since President Truman fired Gen. Douglas MacArthur, today the anti-war veterans group VoteVets.org, which has been influential with Capitol Hill Democrats, is launching a half-million-dollar TV ad campaign featuring Maj Gen John Batiste (Ret.), former commanding general of the first infantry division in Iraq.    

This is a great interview with a long term investigative journalist who knows his Washington subject and their history going back to the 70s and 80s. It gives a new perspective on important events.
One point I question is his assertion that al-Qaeda wants US troops to stay in Iraq so they can be destroyed. I think it may be more true that the CIA and neocons may wish us to think al-Qaeda wants the US troops to stay etc. It is part of US strategy, I believe to stay in Iraq indefinitely and that's one reason they have built new permanent US military bases in Iraq and the biggest US embassy in the world in Baghdad.

Robert Parry of ConsortiumNews.com discusses the need he found to create a new home for investigative reporting back in the 1990s, explains the role of the old Iran-Contra criminals in running the war party today, evidence of George Bush Sr.'s role, the narrative of the “crazy” Iranian regime which was apparently plenty sane enough when this same crew sold them weapons to use against Iraq who the U.S. was also backing in the 1980s, the October Surprise, how Bush claims to follow the advice of his generals as he replaces them with ones sure to “agree” with him that the answer in Iraq is to escalate, why al Qaeda wants the U.S. to stay in Iraq, why they did 9/11 in the first place, the crazy theory that the President has unlimited power over an unlimited area forever, and the media narrative that Bush is some great decisive leader even though he is an idiot and a coward and their suppression of the story of the Florida recount in the election of the year 2000.

He certainly has an illustrious record as head of NATO attacking the Serbian invasion of Kosovo.  I think his accusations against Iran are quite wrong, but he is condemning the Bush regime's push for a war with Iran. He is advocating peaceful discussions with Iran with a view to resolving differences. He is recommending people take action to help bring this about. All this is good and should be supported. People may disagree with Clark on many points, as I do, but we are lucky to have him on the side of peace when the Bush Administration is working toward a catastrophic war with Iran.

Richard A. Clarke, former national security adviser to four presidents including President Bush, said the United States will deal with Iraqi "revenge terrorists" on American soil for the remainder of his years and for the lifespan of many who attended his Clark College appearance Monday evening.
"For as long as I'm alive, there will be Iraqis who hate us," Clarke told about 300 people gathered in the Gaiser Hall Student Center.
In the "battle of ideas" crucial to U.S. success in the Middle East, "We're not only losing, we've never really started," he said.

Is it possible to stop the Bush war machine and other wars, and further a global culture of peace?
UNESCO articles that follow have a number of programmes devoted to the idea of promoting a global "Culture of Peace".
This is a very noble idea and many may prefer to follow this ideal than to seriously concern themselves with stopping and exposing the lies behind present US wars. However I suggest that the objectives intertwine and that we should stop war and promote peace at the same time.
UNESCO has some useful and inspiring advice.

Colonel Lankford suggests you use Google to verify any comments he makes. He mentions a number of whistle blowers in government or University that have asked awkward questions or exposed Government lies about 9/11. Many have suffered the consequences of their honesty. A growing number of people who have researched the 9/11 questions, have become convinced that the Bush Administration staged a 'false flag' terrorist attack on the US to create a false 'Pearl Harbour'. The intention was to get public support to make war under the new catch-all slogan of 'war on terrorism'.

The Bush admininstration's "Complex 2030" plan is reviving the nuclear threat
Only days before the fifth anniversary of September 11, President George W. Bush addressed military officers in Washington to warn that nuclear-armed terrorists could "blackmail the free world and spread their ideologies of hate and raise a moral threat to America." This alarmist vision was accompanied by the White House's release of "A National Strategy for Combating Terrorism," which painted a picture of a "troubling potential WMD terrorism nexus emanating from Tehran." The administration is building the case for war against Iran--a job made easier by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent announcement that Iran can now enrich uranium on an industrial scale--despite the fact that many Iran-watchers and nuclear experts consider their claims of enrichment capacity to be an overblown boast.

Yet President Bush's saber rattling gives the US little additional leverage to engage and dissuade Iran, and, more than likely, simply accelerates a dangerous slide into war. Stan was a dedicated member of the executive and tireless worker for the New Zealand Nuclear Free Peacemaking Association from our foundation in 1981. He helped our national 3-part campaign started in 1981 to have the government declare New Zealand a Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone....
Stan was a unique mixture of hands-on practicality and insights into the multiple environmental, war and nuclear threats to humanity. He was a great human being, and a kind man who will always be fondly remembered. 

Every leader who wants his people to support and fight in his wars appeals to their 'patriotism'. He also uses other trigger words and values to invoke patriotic fervour such as "defending our liberties, freedoms and democracy".
He tries to sell the idea that to be ''patriotic' a citizen must accept the leaders definitions of who is the enemy and how he must be defeated.
As George Bush told Americans when he announced his 'war on terror'  "You are either with us or with the terrorists". There are no doubts, questions or choices. To be patriotic means following the leader and accepting his lies.

A future generation if there is one, and if US democracy ever returns, people will marvel at how easy it was for a small dedicated group of neocons to steal 2 presidential elections and fool and terrify Americans into giving up their democracy and embracing a military dictatorship. It's an amazing but very sad story for the whole human race. Everyone in the world will experience the disastrous consequences. The following article describes how the stage has been set. All that is required is a new Bush war, such as the planned war on Iran.

America is headed for a military dictatorship – and recent legislation makes this all but inevitable. Last September, Congress passed the Defense Authorization Act , which empowered the president to declare martial law with very little provocation, namely in the aftermath of a "terrorist attack or incident." Having determined that "the execution of the laws" is hampered by the "incident," the president can unilaterally impose martial law – without the consent of Congress, which need only be informed of the event "as soon as practicable." The only condition attached instructs the president to report to Congress after 14 days, and every 14 days thereafter.

All that is needed as Brzezinski warned is "a staged provocation in Iraq or a false flag terror attack within the US". Given these dire warnings about something that could spiral into a World War III or endless wider wars with disastrous horrific consequences, why do people seem so unconcerned?

Former National Security Advisor and founding member of the Trilateral Commission Zbigniew Brzezinski tacitly warned a Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week that an attack on Iran could be launched following a staged provocation in Iraq or a false flag terror attack within the U.S. ...
... Brzezinski was careful to highlight the word "defensive" as if to discount its credibility, suggesting that the Bush White House itself would be behind the attack or provocation and subsequently use it as a pretext for war.

If people object to Bush's illegal wars, his supporters call them unpatriotic or treasonous. If they protest against Israeli war policies and territorial expansion, they are called anti-Semitic.  Every dictatorship, or democracy engaged in illegal wars has appealed to people's 'patriotism' or love of country, to gain public support for their wars and to suppress criticism. Dictators and their supporters do not consider facts or consequences. In war it is all the way with the leader, no matter, why, where, how or any possible consequences. People who say stop, no, or the war is not justified, are condemned as 'unpatriotic'.

What is the purpose and whose interest does this serve?
A thorough and objective investigation is needed by an independent authority not connected to the US the UK or other 'coalition of the willing' illegal invaders. That's right they are all illegal invaders. Previous Sec. Gen. of the UN, Kofi Annan, said the invasion and war was illegal and unjustified as have many other famous commentators. Time does not magically transform this criminal enterprise into a just war or otherwise sanitize it. The war was based solely on lies, false and twisted accusations and assumptions.

Under the security plans additional troops were brought to Baghdad and most city streets closed. But car bombings, operations by death squads and attacks on U.S. troops continue.
The attacks Wednesday last week took a high casualty among Kurdish workers known to work in that area. Kurds in the north have stayed relatively free of the violence and the sectarian Shia-Sunni killings in the rest of the country. Kurds had supported the U.S.-led invasion four years back.

The map of Greenland will have to be redrawn. A new island has appeared off its coast, suddenly separated from the mainland by the melting of Greenland's enormous ice sheet, a development that is being seen as the most alarming sign of global warming.
Several miles long, the island was once thought to be the tip of a peninsula halfway up Greenland's remote east coast but a glacier joining it to the mainland has melted away completely, leaving it surrounded by sea.

Every would be dictatorship tries to control the content, bias and slant of information fed to their publics. Iraqis mourn their dead just like Americans mourn the 32 murdered students at Virginia Tech. Why do Americans consider their dead as more important? Partly it is it because the US media treat it that way, and Americans pick up this unexpressed message.

Why do 32 deaths in Virginia receive blanket coverage while nearly 200 fatalities in Iraq are barely reported?
Thirty-two die in American university shooting . Result? Huge media coverage in the US and Britain. In Iraq, almost 200 die, arguably the worst day of carnage in that beleaguered country since the coalition invasion. Result? Coverage so restrained as to be, in many cases, totally negligible. Could you even find it in the Times this morning? Why?

The following article in the London Times is a good example of US-UK collaboration in planting false stories to justify an attack on Iran. Tony Blair is probably staying in office as a trusted US war collaborator until sometime after the US launches the attack. The comments following the article are most valuable in pointing out how closely this false story is to the ones the UK used to justify the Bush-Blair illegal war on Iraq. M15 and other intelligence agencies in the UK and US are now an integral part of the US-UK deception campaign......
Just as the Germans believed Hitler's lies, so the US-UK publics are likely to believe really 'big lies' about Iran. Murdock is the man to give these lies to the people using the London Times.
Some newspapers in New Zealand are playing a similar role, often choosing to reprint blatant propaganda stories from the Murdock paper, in preference to more balanced comment and objective real news stories, such as one sees in The Guardian or Independent.

AL-QAEDA leaders in Iraq are planning the first “large-scale” terrorist attacks on Britain and other western targets with the help of supporters in Iran, according to a leaked intelligence report.   - We have seen these before too!
Spy chiefs warn that one operative had said he was planning an attack on “a par with Hiroshima and Nagasaki” in an attempt to “shake the Roman throne”, a reference to the West.
Another plot could be timed to coincide with Tony Blair stepping down as prime minister, an event described by Al-Qaeda planners as a “change in the head of the company”.               But - Who is doing this plotting and timing?

If Vermont can do it, others may follow.
Let hope this positive step to take American back from the war criminals will bear fruit before they manage to start another war.

The Vermont Senate has passed a resolution urging impeachment proceedings in the U.S. Congress against President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
The resolution passed Friday 16-9. The 16 supporters were Democrats. Three Democrats joined six Republicans in opposing the resolution, the Burlington (Vt.) Free Press reported Saturday.
The resolution said Bush and Cheney's leadership raised "serious questions of constitutionality, statutory legality and abuse of public trust."  The state's congressional delegation said it is premature to pursue impeachment, though they share frustrations and anger at the Bush administration.

It's wonderful that the American people are working to have Bush and Chaney impeached.
This prospect is another reason why the Bush regime may resort to extreme measures soon. If he stages a 'false flag terrorist attack' excuse to nuclear bomb Iran, he is likely to quickly follow that with all kinds of emergency legislation in the US including martial law, conscription and a crack down on critics of the Bush regime.

When Nancy Pelosi announced last fall that impeachment was "off the table," official Washington accepted that the primary avenue for holding lawless Presidents to account had been closed off by the new Speaker of the House. But the Republic's citizenry has not been so inclined. And now, with the Administration's troubles mounting, they're preparing to tell Pelosi that America and the world cannot wait until January 20, 2009, to put an end to Bush's reign of error. When Pelosi arrives at the California Democratic Convention in San Diego on April 28--the same day that activists nationwide will rally for presidential accountability--she'll find on the agenda a resolution that declares that the actions of President Bush and Vice President Cheney "warrant impeachment and trial, and removal from office." Delegates are expected to endorse the measure.

The Physicists letter, although published in 2006, deserves more consideration. These are the experts who created the bomb and warn of the dire consequences of its use.
If nuclear weapons are used against Iran, there is a danger of an escalation to global war and the use of the 8-9 nuclear weapon arsenals.
There are enough nuclear weapons to equal 200,000 times the power of the Hiroshima bomb. Potentially that is enough to kill 200 billion people.
That's a huge overkill potential, as there are only 6 billion people on the planet. But still governments are spending huge sums to create and refine a variety of evermore powerful nuclear and hydrogen weapons, and now space weapons. Where and when does it end?

Thirteen of the nation's most prominent physicists have written a letter to President Bush, calling U.S. plans to reportedly use nuclear weapons against Iran "gravely irresponsible" and warning that such action would have "disastrous consequences for the security of the United States and the world."
The physicists include five Nobel laureates, a recipient of the National Medal of Science and three past presidents of the American Physical Society, the nation's preeminent professional society for physicists.

Seymour Hersh is a very reliable judge of the US media and he claims it failed its job on Iraq issues.
It is shocking that in a democratic country with a supposed 'free press', how much the media is controlled, how little opposition or criticism is allowed of the official government line, and how much information is suppressed. It's either not reported, or is reported in a minor 'small print' way. Bush's new nuclear doctrines are an excellent example of vitally important factual stories the media treated as of little importance, if it printed it at all. Another good example is the constant repetition of Bush's lies on Iraq , without allowing expert refutation. They are doing the same on Iran issues - demonising the country and people and telling outright lies about it and Iran 's nuclear fuel programme. Usually they omit to say that the IAEA reported Iran had no nuclear weapons programme - only enriched uranium for fuel. They are helping condition people to hate and fear Iran , so that the public will accept a US war on Iran under any pretext.

On May 29th, 1975, an aide to then-White House chief of staff Donald Rumsfeld sat down with a yellow legal pad and in careful longhand sketched out a list of possible responses to a damaging investigative report in The New York Times . "Problem," the aide wrote. "Unauthorized disclosure of classified national security information by Sy Hersh and the NYT." He then laid out five options, ranging from the most ominous (an FBI investigation of the newspaper and a grand jury indictment) to the least offensive ("Discuss informally with NYT" and "Do nothing"). Number three on the list, however, read, "Search warrant: to go after Hersh papers in his apt."

This statement from the International Action Centre sums up why the US social climate of violence, crime and widespread use and possession of guns, contributed to the decision of the mentally disturbed Korean-American youth to resort to violence against schoolmates and himself. Given the statistical frequency of violent outbursts from some mentally disturbed people, more incidents like this are inevitable. There would be less of them if American culture was reformed to emphasise positive, constructive values and entertainment. The present diet of evermore violent and perverted crime and murder does not help create a peaceful culture that resolves differences and disputes by negotiation and compromise.

I Yet another rampage has occurred at a school, this time leaving 33 people dead at Virginia Tech—the worst such incident ever at a U.S. college campus.
The news media seem stunned and surprised, yet their coverage sounds so similar to the stories about Columbine eight years ago. They dwell on the personality of the young man the police say did the shooting, before killing himself. They talk about him being a “loner,” depressed, perhaps angry at women. (

Should we, and can we, do something to help stop this evil? Or should we do nothing and pretend it isn't happening?

I cannot recall a single day since Vulcans' Godfather James Baker sent his thuggish henchman John Bolton to Florida's Palm Beach County to screw up the vote count that has not been filled with horror, anger, shame -- despair. On Dec. 9, 2000 -- three days before the Florida deadline -- the US Republic shuddered on its axis when Bolton crashed through the doors of a Tallahassee library where Miami-Dade ballots were being recounted and shouted triumphantly -- "I'm with the Bush-Cheney team, and I'm here to stop the count!"
In that instant we lost most of what had taken more than two centuries to build. In one fell swoop, Americans were thrust into the mire of an Orwellian World spinning out of control on the other side of the Looking Glass. What a tragedy -- not that so many failed to realize their government had just been seized in a coup de'etat -- but that the few who did refused to acknowledge it.

Tom Engelhardt presents a very useful record of Bush Administration changing propaganda during the 4 year war on Iraq.  However he omits to mention the vital and ominous new element in Bush propaganda. That is the blaming of Iran for helping and arming 'the terrorists in Iraq'. Bush is desperately looking for a scapegoat to blame for his Iraq quagmire and Iran is it.  Iran is Bush's ultimate war target. He is demonising Iran as well as blaming Iran for causing the failure of his illegal war on Iraq. This will give him the invented excuses he needs to justify a war on Iran. Most of Congress and the US public now believe that Iran is a nuclear threat to the US, as they believed Iraq was a nuclear threat before Bush started a war against this country in 2003. They have a very short memory span in the US, and it's getting shorter. So it is easy for the Bush regime to fool them repeatedly with the same kind of lies. Engelhardt shows how Bush tries to wipe the public's 'memory slate' clean each time he invents new terminology to cover his failures in Iraq.

... Like all wars, the "war in Iraq" or "Iraq war" -- it's never gained the double caps of the Korean or Vietnam Wars -- has also been a war of words. From "homeland" and "unlawful combatant" to "extraordinary rendition" and "Global War on Terror" (aka: World War IV or the Long War), never has an administration reached more often for its dictionaries to create pretzled words and phrases. Its war in Iraq has been no exception. But recently there's been a change, hardly noticed by anyone. The administration's familiar war vocabulary and imagery, which hung in there so remarkably long, has finally disappeared down the memory hole. So many images, tailored for home-front consumption, each meant to help give just a little more time to an increasingly embattled administration, have in recent months disappeared.

As the effects of global warming increasingly effect the planet, there will be more wars over shrinking food resources and a changed, less hospitable environment. That's the finding of those who study the climate trends and make predictions as indicated below. Billionaire George Soros, tells how Israel has managed to link US policies to Israeli foreign policy objectives. This has involved a colossal cost to the US  and its reputation and may yet destroy it and the rest of the world. Just as Israel directly with the US government, and AIPAC with legislators in the US , influenced the US decision to make war on Iraq , so AIPAC is influencing the Bush Administration to move from the present covert war, to an open war on Iran . I hope there is still time for influential Americans like George Soros and Jimmy Carter to change US war policies before they plunge the world into a nuclear inferno from which it may never recover. The US has the technological means to do this, as has Israel with its own nuclear arsenal. Will sanity prevail over fanaticism harnessed to Christian and Zionist fundamentalism? Perhaps the answer is manifest in the historical record of 5,000 wars. They show that a majority can be enflamed to want war for almost any reason, and that sane, moderate, rational and wise people have seldom prevailed over the insanity of the wicked and power-mad few. This historical lesson has not yet been learned. Sane, moderate, rational people have not yet matched the dedication and commitment of the wicked and power-mad war hawks. Will they this time? 

George Soros, the billionaire investor, has added his voice to the debate over the role of Israel 's lobby in shaping US foreign policy.
In the current issue of the New York Review of Books, Soros takes issue with "the pervasive influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC]" in Washington and says the Bush administration's close ties with Israel are obstacles to a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.

Paul Wolfowitz is a leading neo-conservative and one of the architects of the illegal war on Iraq. He was appointed by Bush to head the World Bank where he is now in deep trouble, as revealed by this article in the New York Times.
He wants to retain his job in spite of the fact that he is dragging the bank's name through the mud and they want him to resign.

The U.S. Defense Department ordered a contractor to hire a World Bank employee and girlfriend of then-Pentagon No. 2 Paul Wolfowitz in 2003 for work related to Iraq, the contractor said on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for Science Applications International Corp., or SAIC, said the Defense Department's policy office directed the company to enter a subcontract with Shaha Riza, under which she spent a month studying ways to form a government in Iraq.

Placing US anti-missile defence systems in European countries is a multi-message to Russia, and another indication that the US is restarting the international arms race and a new cold war. If the US launches a pre-emptive nuclear war on Iran, as much expert testimony indicates, and it looks like it may go global, they may implement global pre-emptive nuclear strikes against some other nuclear weapon states. Bush, as Commander In Chief of US military forces, has the legal right (made law by Congress) to launch pre-emptive nuclear war. He may also introduce nuclear weapons into conventional weapon wars.

... It all sounds like the speech made by Colin Powell during his tenure as U.S. Secretary of State at a meeting of the U.N. General Assembly. In it, he argued Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and the world community was obliged to stop their proliferation and use. The upshot of all that is well known: Such weapons were never found anywhere in Mesopotamia.

Here is a UPI article that shows German enthusiasm for a US missile defence system. As might be expected, the German conservatives welcome a new arms race and cold war in Europe. By embracing Bush's and the media lies about an alleged threat from Iran, they have the flimsy excuse. In the short term they may hope for new opportunities for profits. In the long run it can lead to crippling wars, if not nuclear war. I would think that the lessons of history and the potential for far greater wars than World War II, would have taught the Germans some useful lessons. Apparently not.

Iran's latest claim that it is capable of enriching uranium on an industrial level has encouraged proponents of U.S. plans for a missile shield in Eastern Europe, but Moscow is still not amused. After Tehran's nuclear threats, members of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives even said more countries in Europe should think about participating in the U.S. anti-missile system.

This article by Gorbachev is the most comprehensive article on the subject of US attempts to sell missile defence to European countries. I am amazed that they seem to be buying this expensive and dangerous fraud. It means less independence for Europe, huge expenditure,  more US domination and agenda, and an increase in the likelihood of crippling wars. How could Europeans accept American lies and propaganda and do such a self-destructive act as install missile defence systems? It makes no sense particularly after they have had the example of US lying to justify their illegal war on Iraq with over 600,000 people killed

KALININGRAD, April 12 (RIA Novosti) - Deployment of U.S. missile-defense bases in Poland and the Czech Republic is an attempt by the U.S. to control Europe, the former Soviet president said Thursday. "It is all about influence and domination in Europe," Mikhail Gorbachev said. "I believe it is wrong that America did not even bother to consult its NATO allies."

Much of Europe is arguing over a Washington proposal to plant in Poland fewer than a dozen antimissile missiles that might not work, to guard against an Iranian threat that may not exist.

Orwell's quotes sum up so much of what is happening today in the US as the Bush regime pursues its imperial warpath toward global domination. This is sustained and facilitated by developing a militaristic fascist state at home. One example is that the policies and actions of the Bush Administration must be presented to the public as moral and just and in line with US values such as "freedom, democracy, liberty etc".

Political language. . . is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind:

"After three months of intrusive inspections, we have to date found no evidence or plausible indication of the revival of a nuclear weapon program in Iraq." After conducting a total of 218 inspections at 141 sites – including 21 sites suggested by the CIA! – ElBaradei reported.
"There is no indication of resumed nuclear activities in those buildings that were identified through the use of satellite imagery as being reconstructed or newly erected since 1998, nor any indication of nuclear-related prohibited activities at any inspected sites.

Scott Ritter, a friend of Israel, describes how Israel has clandestinely hi-jacked US foreign policy. US taxpayers give Israel about 3 billion dollars a year in military aid. That helps finance the Israeli war machine, its occupation of Palestine and its war on Lebanon. Some is channelled back to the US to help finance one of the most powerful and influential lobbies in Washington - The American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). By various methods, Israel manages to influence US legislators and the executive. The US war on Iraq, and the planned war on Iran are now not approved by a majority of Americans according to recent polls.

This new Democratic leadership has failed egregiously.  Not only has the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, been unable to orchestrate any meaningful legislation to bring the war in Iraq to an end, but in mid-March she carelessly greased the tracks for a whole new conflict. By excising language from a defense appropriations bill which would have required President Bush to seek the approval of Congress prior to initiating any military attack on Iran, Pelosi terminated any hope of slowing down the Bush administration's mad rush to war.

Each of the Democratic Presidential candidates are willing to launch a  nuclear war on Iran, as indicated by their comments below, supposedly to prevent them from making nuclear weapons. However I cannot believe that these three leading Democratic candidates for the US Presidency do not know simple well-established and easily verified facts on Iran.

A year ago, writing in the New Yorker, journalist Seymour Hersh reported: “One of the military's initial option plans, as presented to the White House by the Pentagon this winter, calls for the use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the B61-11, against underground nuclear sites.”
For a presidential candidate to proclaim that all “options” should be on the table while dealing with Iran is a horrific statement. It signals willingness to threaten -- and possibly follow through with -- first use of nuclear weapons. This raises no eyebrows among Washington's policymakers and media elites because it is in keeping with longstanding U.S. foreign-policy doctrine.

Iraq May Be the Greatest Crisis of Modern Times

All I can say about Pilger's article "Iraq May Be The Greatest Crisis of Modern Times" is Amen, how right he is. Let us hope that Pilger will cut through public apathy and awaken people who so far, have refused to be concerned. Just about everyone in the developed countries march happily and deliberately unaware, toward Bush's final Armageddon death camps, denying the unthinkable reality with every step.
So did the Jews, as they marched into Hitler's death camps. Most Jews just couldn't believe that they and their families were to become victims of the most diabolical evil ever conceived by man. It is the same today, but the reality is well-camouflaged because we are still able to continue life as usual - for the moment.

In a cover piece for the New Statesman, John Pilger evokes the memory of Germans 'looking from the side' at Bergen-Belsen to describe the challenge facing us in the West as the Bush/Blair 'long war' becomes 'perhaps the greatest crisis of modern times'.

And yet there is a surreal silence, save for the noise of “news” in which our powerful broadcasters gesture cryptically at the obvious but dare not make sense of it, lest the one-way moral screen erected between us and the consequences of an imperial foreign policy collapse and the truth be revealed. John Bolton, formerly Bush's man at the United Nations, recently spelled out the truth: that the Bush-Cheney-Blair plan for the Middle East is an agenda to maintain division and instability. In other words, bloodshed and chaos equals control. He was referring to Iraq, but he also meant Iran.

The Bush regime has a criminal strategy of labelling anyone they choose, who they claim opposes their illegal attack and occupation of foreign countries, as an "enemy combatant". These people are usually completely innocent of such ridiculous charges. They can then be seized from anywhere in the world, imprisoned and tortured indefinitely without charge or trial at Guantanamo Bay or any other of a number of prisons in US client countries with a reputation for torture. Whether they are innocent or guilty of such trumped up unacceptable charges does not matter to the Bush regime.

"They told us this was one of the world's worst terrorists, and he got the sentence of a drunken driver," said Ben Wizner, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union, referring to David Hicks, a 31-year-old Australian who in a plea bargain with a US military court will serve nine months in prison, largely in Australia. ... "If the United States were not ashamed of its conduct, it wouldn't hide behind a gag order," said Wizner.)

.... My own observation is that the US mass media hardly ever mentions the danger of nuclear weapons anymore. The media are inferring that new US nuclear policies are perfectly normal and acceptable, so people seem to accept them. These are that the US can use nuclear weapons in conventional war situations and that the President may wage a pre-emptive nuclear war against any nation on any flimsy grounds he may supply.

Dr. Helen Caldicott has been advocating her own inconvenient truth for over a quarter-century, but her battle against nuclear power and nuclear weapons is still as controversial – and as necessary – as it has ever been. While Oscar-winning presumptive president Al Gore was still a congressman from Tennessee, and voting on what was then the largest military buildup in history, Caldicott was warning of the risks posed by both the nuclear arms race being orchestrated by the Reagan administration and the continued use of commercial nuclear power in communities around the United States.

Noam Chomsky gives an excellent analysis of the crisis, and how the US is building up fake accusations and justifications for war with Iran as it did to make war on Iraq in 2003.
He then offers a brilliant analysis of logical steps toward peace which would be supported by world public opinion as indicated in public opinion polls.
But I doubt if this brilliant solution will be allowed by those who control the power to wage wars and thereby destroy our world. They are on a collision course with Iran in pursuit of their vision of global domination, including control of the world's oil resources.

... The results of an attack on Iran could be horrendous. After all, according to a recent study of "the Iraq effect" by terrorism specialists Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank, using government and Rand Corporation data, the Iraq invasion has already led to a seven-fold increase in terror. The "Iran effect" would probably be far more severe and long-lasting. British military historian Corelli Barnett speaks for many when he warns that "an attack on Iran would effectively launch World War III."

This damming new evidence links those accused of 9/11 crimes, with the CIA and FBI. It is particularly persuasive along with the other evidence presented by the 9/11 Truth movement and other similar groups. It seems ever more obvious that the Bush Administration and various government departments, were deeply involved in the 9/11 attacks, and have been trying to cover up their tracks ever since. Because so many Americans have made similar conclusions, the Bush Administration must be feeling the pressure, and the threat of exposure.

With Truth Comes Awakening - The suppression of truth has long been among the highest priorities for the upper echelons of power and authority.

The increasing loss of religious right believers in Bush's wars, such as the Mormons (below), is another indicator that Bush will likely resort to some extreme action - such as a sudden pre-emptive nuclear attack on Iran. If he fabricates and constructs any excuse, or false flag event and blames Iran, the US mass media will leap on the pro-war bandwagon, repeating his every lie or excuse without criticism.

Iraq is lost militarily and politically. Even the Mormons are now abandoning President George W. Bush's mad war. That's akin to the Swiss Guard deserting and leaving the pope to fend for himself with the Vatican under siege.

The following was one of the many comments after an article on AlterNet about Rosie O'Donnell, a well-known American comedienne, by Joshua Holland. Rosie had some very valid observations and doubts about the official story on 9/11, especially the destruction of the 3rd building - WTC 7. AlterNet writer Joshua Holland does not like doubts expressed about the official 9/11 story, claiming such doubts devalue the criticisms of Bush's wars. So he rubbished her doubts, while carefully skirting the demolition theory on the destruction of WTC 7. 
In declaring doubts on 9/11 to be ' off-limits', if not crazy 'conspiracy theories' Holland reveals his mental limitations.
Prof David Ray Griffin's new book: "Debunking the Debunker" exposes the flaws in the Popular Mechanics defence of the official story. Joshua Holland, if he is sincere, would probably change his views on the official 9/11 story if he could bring himself to read this book.

There has yet to be an official explanation regarding the destruction of WTC 7. The unofficial quasi-government explanations have been thoroughly debunked . Alberto Gonzales has been Bush's lawyer for a long time, and acted for him in many ways. So Bush made him US Attorney-General where he has acted for Bush ever since, and covered up his crimes. Now there is the chance of exposure under oath, and the trail goes to Bush's door.
Exposure could lead to impeachment. Naturally Bush and his scheming neocons will do everything in their power to prevent this.

The attorney general takes an oath to uphold the constitution and execute the law. When controversial matters come up, his role, traditionally, is often to be the guy who says, "We can't do that, it's against the law."

One of it's formulas to stifle criticism is to accuse any critics as "anti-Semitic" or "anti-Jewish". Its prime target is Iran - a non-nuclear weapon nation that could not be a threat to Israel with it's arsenal of some 200-400 nuclear weapons. Nevertheless, the power of Israeli lies and war propaganda is great and dominates the media in Israel. As a result the majority of Israelis believe the false propaganda and support military action against Iran.

Ilan Pappe, a senior lecturer in the University of Haifa's Department of Political Science, says he is moving to the UK because it is "increasingly difficult to live in Israel" with his "unwelcome views and convictions."

This article spells out a reality of Bushism that few people have grasped. The erosion of social values, standards, disarmament and arms control treaties has been systematic since the beginning of the Bush reign in 2000.  Bush, the cowboy barbarian, is destroying our civilization. Logic? Truth? Those were sold to the highest bidder long ago, to pay for the most monstrous killing machines ever created and our raging addiction to chemical energy.

Mohammed ElBaradei, as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA), is a world authority on nuclear issues including whether a nation has a nuclear weapons and is a potential nuclear threat. He says Iran is not a nuclear threat to the world.
It's his job to oversee UN inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities and report on them. I trust his report that Iran is not a nuclear threat to the world.

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said on Thursday night that Iran is not considered as a nuclear threat to the world.
In an interview with Al-Arabia television network, he said the country poses no nuclear threats to any country around the globe.
Iran's problems should be resolved through comprehensive talks with all parties, he underlined. Military conflict does not help resolve the issue, he said, adding that it only will lead to a regional catastrophe and will make the situation more complicated.

The advice of experts from many professions, all warning against Bush's plans to wage pre-emptive war against a non-nuclear state - Iran,  has had no effect. The consequences of a nuclear war were spelled out by these eminent physicists. It had no effect. Bush and his neocons wish to control middle east oil resources. They believe they have the power and resources to do it and are willing to take whatever risks are involved. These Bush people are already war criminals for what they have done to Iraq with their lie-based illegal war. So they think they have nothing to lose. Congress is co-operating by funding their wars, repeating their lies, and doing nothing to prevent Bush's planned nuclear war on Iran. This is the end of American Democracy. A new dark ages threatens to engulf humanity for ages to come, unless a global war terminates all life.

Thirteen of the nation's most prominent physicists have written a letter to President Bush, calling U.S. plans to reportedly use nuclear weapons against Iran “gravely irresponsible” and warning that such action would have “disastrous consequences for the security of the United States and the world.”
The physicists include five Nobel laureates, a recipient of the National Medal of Science and three past presidents of the American Physical Society, the nation's preeminent professional society for physicists.

But this is the first report of a date for Bush to begin acting out his insane delusions and risk the fate of our earth.
If true, it could rapidly escalate into a series of endless wars and become global..

The United States will be ready to launch a missile attack on Iran's nuclear facilities as soon as early this month, perhaps "from 4 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 6," according to reports in the Russian media on Saturday.

So many factors threaten human existence. .... One would think that such warnings from top people, who know from the inside, would result in remedial behaviour from rational human beings who wish to live and want their children and other human beings to continue to live on our planet. But it is not so.

According to a new report from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, some 100,000 asteroids and comets routinely pass between the Sun and the Earth's orbit. About 20,000 of these orbit close enough to us that they could one day hit the Earth and destroy a major city.
But the really worrying news from NASA is that over a thousand of these things are large enough (almost a mile wide in diameter) and their orbits close enough to us as to pose a real potential hazard of crashing into the Earth with enough force to end most life on this planet. Scientists think this is what killed off the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago.
