I have looked at some of the US presidential candidates and feel Denis Kucinich is the best to achieve peace, and change to a more compassionate society in the USA. Wherever you live, the world is a small place with all life at risk from a nuclear war.

IRAQI CITIES "HOT" WITH DEPLETED URANIUM   by Sara Flounders
August 16, 2003

Leer to Helen Clark and other MPs from Bill Watson - send yours!
Has U.S. use of depleted-uranium weapons turned Iraq into a radioactive danger area for both Iraqis and occupation troops?
This question has already had serious consequences. In hot spots in downtown Baghdad, reporters have measured radiation levels that are 1,000 to 1,900 times higher than normal background radiation levels.

  Action to Ban Mini-Nukes
May 16, 2003

Tell Your Senators to Say "No" to New Nukes
The Bush administration is pushing for the development of new nuclear weapons. The White House is interested in smaller, more "usable" nuclear weapons and has asked Congress to lift the 10-year Spra- Furse ban on the development of new "mini-nukes." The Senate will likely vote next week whether or not to maintain the ban. Take this opportunity to tell your senators to oppose new nuclear weapons: tell them to maintain the Spra-Furse law.

As mayor of the A-bombed city Hiroshima I am outraged by the barbarism that has led you not only to attack Iraq, killing or injuring thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens, but also to develop new nuclear weapons.  You are trampling viciously on the hopes of the vast majority of people around the world who seek peace and, on behalf of the residents of Hiroshima, I vehemently protest.

A suggestion re John's sample leer is the addition that in a worst case scenario 3.6 million people will be killed with a scenario of Saddam using bio and chem weapons and the USA retaliating with nuclear weapons. Clearly a totally sick, totally preventable scenario IF these countries vote against war. I'd also add in the sample leer that it's more than time that the USA be stood up to by the rest of the world and not allow themselves to be cowed, threatened economically, etc. Do what you [they] know is right. It's that simple. See also MEDIA CHALLENGE !

  by Ellen Cantarow

34 years of Israeli policy have laid the groundwork for its unholy war in the West Bank and Gaza
I am Jewish. I am a writer. From 1979 to 1989 I reported for The Village Voice, Mother Jones, Inquiry and other US publications from Israel and the West Bank. During those years I witnessed on the ground the rapid growth of Israel's selements and the seizure of Palestinian land and water for them: today over half the West Bank's resources now are in Israel's hands. (About a third of Gaza's resources have suffered the same fate.)

Submissions due: NZ Nuclear Free Zone Extension Bill

January 26, 2001

The two ships carrying nuclear waste from France to Japan, and the ship which has just left Sydney on its way to France carrying radioactive rods from the Lucas Heights reactor - all of which will pass through the Tasman Sea - have highlighted again the problems with the NZ nuclear free zone. As many of you are aware, there is a bill currently at Select Committee stage to extend the NZ nuclear free zone from 12 miles to 200 miles from the coast and to prohibit the transit of high level nuclear waste, nuclear weapons and nuclear-power ships through that extended zone. As you may also be aware, the government has clearly stated they will not allow that bill to pass into law.
