This excellent analysis by Chris Hedges fails to suggest that many US plans call for the US use of nuclear weapons against Iran although many good analysts have produced articles indicating this.
He and many other good commentators in the US also fail to describe the tricks and pretexts that the Bush Administration may use, such as staging a  'False Flag' attack on the US and blaming Iran as an excuse to launch a US attack. 
Articles after the event will be too late and will either not be printed or will be ignored. Bleak Future for Americans

Americans will have very little choice in the next election, as the Democrats embrace the same deceptive policies as the Bush Administration.
Although the Bush republicans can be shot down in flames over their series of invented lies to justify wars in Iraq and Iran , none of the front running democrats are prepared to say so. Pre-Trial Continues for Priests Who Denounce Torture

Two Roman Catholic priests, who were arrested as they approached the Fort Huachuca gatehouse on November 19, 2006, will face a continuance of their pre-trial hearing this August 13 in Federal Court in Tucson, Arizona. The intent of Franciscan Fr. Louis Vitale, 74, and Jesuit Fr. Steve Kelly, 58, was to speak with enlisted personnel and deliver a letter denouncing torture to Major General Barbara Fast, commander at the post. The letter addressed to Major General Fast voices the priests' concern with what is being taught to interrogators who are being trained at Fort Huachuca, the headquarters for the intelligence services of the US military.

On Monday, Rep. John Conyers brushed off the heroic impeachment efforts of Cindy Sheehan, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Ray McGovern, Medea Benjamin, David Swanson, 300 dedicated impeachment marchers, 1 million petition signers, resolutions from dozens of cities and towns, and activists who called his office every 30 seconds.

Although the Iraq war was planned before 9/11, as we and many others have said, this 2002 article reminds us of the details. Sheehan Arrested in Impeachment Protest

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested Monday at the Capitol for disorderly conduct, shortly after saying she would run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over the California Democrat's refusal to try to impeach President Bush.
Sheehan was taken into custody inside Rep. John Conyers' office, where she had spent an hour imploring him to launch impeachment proceedings against Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Conyers, D-Mich., chairs the House Judiciary Committee, where any impeachment effort would have to begin.

If it weren't so depressing, it would be entertaining to watch the loathed, ridiculed and remarkably unpopular Bush administration continue to run circles around the supposedly ascendant Democrats in Congress.

One recalls that it was in August 1964, after the Republicans nominated Barry Goldwater, that the Tonkin Gulf incident occurred.

The US military and civilian war makers in Washington have learned lessons from the Vietnam War - how to minimize domestic outrage and protest. One tactic is to strictly control the media and reportage of their bombing raids on civilian centres - and the casualties of innocent men, women and children in Iraq. Reporting the results of a Gallup poll in June 2004, USA Today declared: "It is the first time since Vietnam that a majority of Americans has called a major deployment of US forces a mistake." And public opinion continued to move in an antiwar direction. But such trends easily coexist with a war effort becoming even more horrific.

Impeachment...the word feared and loathed by every sitting president is back. It's in the air and on your computer screen, a growing clamor aimed at both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.

James Bamford, author and long-time expert on the CIA says the recent CIA released "crown jewels" of CIA operations from 1950 into the 1970's, "seems so minor compared to what the CIA is doing today".

... Among the many examples of how the CIA today makes the agency detailed in the "crown jewels" documents look pallid by comparison is the system of torture created by the Bush administration in the treatment of suspected terrorists. Along with the Iraq War, the CIA's "renditions" and "black sites" greatly add to what Julianne Smith of the Center for Strategic and International Studies calls "the rather dark shadow [cast] on our relationship with our European allies," and much of the rest of the world.

This is a rare jewel to have a potential assassination victim, Fidel Castro, commenting on the CIA's 'Family Jewels' self-exposure and a few of their numerous attempts to assassinate him.
Although this exposure and Castro's comments do expose a lot of sensational, unbelievable plots and assassinations, and the blackest of black operations, it covers up and omits far more, and probably far worse crimes against humanity.  As Castro points out, the CIA actions today are far more extensive under Bush than any previous US president. It underlines the fact that Western society really is becoming more like Orwell's book '1984' every day. Read it and weep for the future of humanity under the criminal Bush regime and what is likely to follow.

It was announced that the CIA would be declassifying hundreds of pages on illegal actions that included plans to eliminate the leaders of foreign governments. Suddenly the publication is halted and it is delayed one day. No coherent explanation was given. Perhaps someone in the White House looked over the material.
The first package of declassified documents goes by the name of "The Family Jewels"; it consists of 702 pages on illegal CIA actions between 1959 and 1973. About 100 pages of this part have been deleted. It deals with actions that were not authorized by any law, plots to assassinate other leaders, experiments with drugs on human beings to control their minds, spying on civil activists and journalists, among other similar activities that were expressly prohibited.

Bush and Cheney continue to commit huge war crimes based on lies. They are planning perhaps the greatest crime in history - attacking Iran with nuclear weapons and inventing a number of excuses to justify this. In spite of media and Democratic party efforts to whitewash these crimes and lies, or not even admit they exist, an increasing number of Americans are realising this and want Bush and Cheney impeached as the following articles indicate. Many believe Bush-Cheney lies to demonise Iran, faithfully repeated by the media. Led by Bush's neocons, they already call for such an assault.

It is refreshing to see a mainstream US paper like the Baltimore Sun, actually spell out some of the evil things the Bush conspiracy is doing to America. Under their very noses, America is being converted into a fascist state. It's time for Americans to stop this conspiracy. More should join the movement to impeach Bush and Cheny before it's too late.

Besides all his other gifts, Thomas Jefferson appears to have been prophetic.
In his first presidential inaugural address in 1801, he ticked off a long list of essential principles of government, featuring highlights of the Bill of Rights, and called preservation of the government "in its whole constitutional vigor" the "anchor of our peace at home and safety abroad." These principles "should be the creed of our political faith," he said. "Should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty and safety."

I totally agree with this essay. In many ways it is very similar to what I have been saying on my website which covers many of the subjects mentioned. My only worry is that there is not the time or resources required to reach enough people that will somehow prevent the Bush regime from carrying out their agenda. ...
Bush is a committed 'End Times' believer, who thinks he is doing God's will by bring on Armageddon. This ending is looked forward to by a powerful minority of Americans. Their leaders have access to, and much influence on Bush.

We are truly in a war. It is not the war we imagine we are in, which is the way our true adversaries want it. It is not a foreign war against a foreign enemy. It is a war on consciousness, a war on our own minds. The global war on terror that is being fought around the world is an embodied reflection in the material world of a deeper, more fundamental war that is going on in the realm of consciousness itself.

The Howard Government has today admitted that securing oil supplies is a factor in Australia's continued military involvement in Iraq.
Defence Minister Brendan Nelson said today oil was a factor in Australia's contribution to the unpopular war, as "energy security" and stability in the Middle East would be crucial to the nation's future.

Cindy Sheehan returns to lead a peace walk from her old base in Crawford Texas to Washington D.C.
Like many Americans Cindy is outraged by Bush's spurning of the Court's decision to imprison Gordon Libby.
Once again she wants to focus America 's attention on the criminal BushCo conspiracy leading America toward fascism and more wars. Fort Worth, Texas - Cindy Sheehan will return to her protest site near President Bush's ranch in Crawford this weekend to bid farewell to the peace movement - but not with an anti-war rally.
Instead, Sheehan will sell some camping items, gather with friends from previous demonstrations and celebrate her 50th birthday in Crawford, about 100 miles south of Fort Worth. Then she will hand over the deed of her 5-acre lot to its new owner, radio talk-show host Bree Walker.
"I feel great," Sheehan told The Associated Press on Tuesday by telephone en route to Texas. "I'm feeling like it was the right decision for me. I feel like it was the best thing to do."
