Salvador Option Designed to Save US Comment by Larry Ross, December 25, 2006 There was no civil war in Iraq before. But by using what is known as "The Salvador Option" (described below by James Brook) the US rapidly turned their illegal war on Iraq into the civil war it is today. The technique, used many times by the US before, particularly in South America , involves employing death squads to masquerade as the militia of the dominant faction, or as police under the direction of that faction, and murder assigned targets on the victim side. The purpose is to make the victim faction believe that the dominant faction is responsible for deliberately murdering them. If believed, the victim or targeted faction takes up arms to protect themselves and retaliate against the dominant faction, rather than the death squads who may be hired by the foreign occupier to do his dirty work and pose as members of the dominant faction. It doesn't take long for a real civil war to take over, and for hate, fear and vengeance to take over in each faction. It looks very much as if this "Salvador Option" is being applied to Iraq and causing the deceived Iraqis to kill each other. What they cannot win in conventional ways, the US “Coalition of the Willing” hopes to win through guile. By using the so-called "Surge" or escalating the war by increasing US troops, it is expected they would also escalate the Salvador Option to increase the level of their staged 'civil war'. The Salvador Option is very similar to the 'False Flag' option, where the US stages a so-called 'terrorist' attack on the US and blames the target nation. As mentioned in other articles on this subject, there are indications that the US will use this technique to gain public approval and media support, for an attack on Iran "with all options on the table" This means nuclear weapons use, as Bush has repeatedly warned. As with the "False Flag' option, the 'Salvador Option' must be extensively publicised by responsible people and groups, so that the publics of the US and other countries won't be so easily deceived by US guile, using hidden, covert action techniques and agendas. Without a massive educational campaign, the US could prevail. It would certainly cause a great number of additional murders, which the US likes to sanitize by referring to them as 'civil war casualties' etc. If you agree, disagree, or just don't care, let me know your views at webenquiry@nuclearfree.org.nz Also, let me know if this issue is important enough to motivate you to do something about it.

Talking surge By James Brooks,
Online Journal Contributing Writer, December 25, 2006 ‘Everyone in town is talking “surge” now,’ a Pentagon adviser explained to NPR listeners the other day, and you could almost feel the country buckle up its mind for another bloody disaster ahead. One big “final” push to defeat the popular resistance of the Iraqi people. Just to see if we can do it, before we leave. It probably won’t work, but it’s worth a try.’ For an alternative to this patent nonsense, we are told to look to the deliberations of the Iraq Study Group, which only offer proof that the US has no intention of either leaving Iraq or letting Iraqi oil slip out of its grasp. In addition to an indefinite military presence, the ISG recommends a number of specific steps to tighten controls over Iraqi petroleum and economic policy in favor of corporate oil. It’s simply an elite debate about how best to achieve the common objective, which has nothing to do with the expressed goal of the American people, i.e. to get the hell out of there. Yet, once the inter-generational/bi-partisan drama of the ISG moment was past and the “intensive” White House policy review was complete, just about any “solution” could be blown down the throat of an election-satisfied public, at least for awhile. Provided, that is, the Democratic Party didn’t spoil the scene by speaking any awkward truths, which it hasn’t since it won the elections. The weather in Iraq is cool now, and we can “accelerate” 20,000 partially trained recruits into on-the-job training under fire, while we “extend” the agony of 20,000 more soldiers who have earned their trip home. It’s the perfect time for “surge.” Naturally, the Democrats installed “surge” proponents in the congressional leadership, ensuring that no one could be blamed later for the likely failure of this “face-saving” operation.
