Another Astute US Author Predicts US War On Iran

Comment by Larry Ross, December 29, 2006

This article is circulated because it illuminates so well, that a huge war may be coming and that it is likely during 2007.
Unless concerned people can prevent the Bush war Juggernaut from launching a war on Iran , the consequences could be horrific - millions of dead and dying, as well as profound consequences affecting all aspects of life, not just in Iran, but everywhere indefinitely.
So I urge everyone to become educated, such as doing your own research on Google.
Try searching: " US War on Iran" or “US Nuclear War on Iran ".
There are also lots of top articles on this crisis on this website: try the search engine on http://www.nuclearfree.org.nz/archives

Professor Marjorie Cohn's article is brilliant and loaded with valuable information. I will supplement it with a comment about the techniques and circumstances the Bush regime may use to start a war with Iran, while gaining US public support.

If people are not educated and forewarned, they may be fooled by a staged terrorist attack on the  US , blamed on Iran  to provide an excuse for war - even a nuclear attack. This is called a 'False Flag' operation and I strongly advise you to Google "False Flag" or look for information about it on our site. Many governments have used such tactics since 1600.

Uninformed people are likely to be fooled into thinking that Iran has committed a treacherous bloody attack on the US. Rational but uninformed, intelligent concerned people, are apt to discount and/or dismiss the idea that such diabolical evil by their own government would be committed on their fellow Americans. But various US Governments and their agencies, such as the CIA, have a long history of committed nefarious schemes against other countries and governments and using phoney excuses to justify invasions or helping military in other countries stage coup d'etats.  Chile under Pinochet is typical. The Iraq war is a good example of propaganda lies, endlessly repeated by the US mass media,  prevailing over reason and truth to gain public support for a war on Iraq . Americans have demonstrated repeatedly, that they are pretty easy to fool with skillfully done psy-ops campaigns if their political leaders want to make war. They may accept 655,000 Iraqi dead, but condemning 3,000 fellow Americans to death in an illegal war based on lies, is different. Its equivalent to "diabolical evil by their own government ... against fellow Americans"

One reason for this is that Americans are conditioned from birth to think that what should be important to them is baseball scores, football, golf or any of a myriad of other sports, or whose dating who or what in Hollywood. Foreign affairs is too complicated, only for nerds and specialists - so people cant be bothered, its too boring, they're too busy, and they lack the attention-span. So they leave it to 'our President'. Also, people who show too much interest may be subversive and unpatriotic and even, horror of horrors, 'a terrorist sympathiser or a peacenik, and even worse 'a green intellectual peacenik' God save us.

Even though most truthful political commentators (not outright war propagandists) know this, they may avoid the possibility of suggesting that a 'False Flag' operation involving an attack on the US , might be staged by the Bush Administration to incriminate Iran . It's just too extreme an act, for most people to handle. So they reject such an idea and tend to condemn anyone who suggests it.

But what is the difference between falsely accusing Iran of a number of crimes, planned crimes, or events twisted to portray them as crimes to Americans, and actually staging a real crime and blaming Iran?

The result of the silence on this issue, is that both informed commentators, and their readers, may be fooled yet again into supporting an illegal war, this time using nuclear weapons. Individuals, groups and governments can help prevent this if they first educate themselves about False Flag operations and the full scope of war crimes already committed by the Bush Administration, and the pressures and desperation the Bush cabal must feel. Rather than withdraw from Iraq and abort their grand design for Middle East domination, they are more likely to feel they must continue this giant hoax with a new war in accordance with their original plans.

The American people have been thoroughly propagandized by lies and false accusations about Iran , as they were about Iraq before Bush attacked. That's why US Polls show a majority now support a war on Iran as they did for a war on  Iraq in 2003.

But these techniques may not be enough for a nuclear war on Iran . The Bush regime may feel they need something tangible and horrific - like a 9/11 attack as a convincing and frightening tactic in support of their many lies. A False Flag operation blaming Iran may create the instant hate and loathing for Iran which the Bush war juggernaut needs, to justify to the public jumping over the long-held barrier to using nuclear weapons, and actually using nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear state.

Lies alone, which worked well for the Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard governments, may be judged as insufficient cause by Americans and others, for the giant step of actually using nuclear weapons. Blair and Howard will defend whatever Bush does

Also, if Bush staged a successful False Flag and critical analysis and dissent were stifled, as they now are, the Bush Administration would gain multiple benefits, such as increased popularity, acceptance and approval for "defending the US against the 'axis of evil' terrorists" etc.Any new powers or fascist-style 'Patriot' legislation or more financial requests for 'defence' would be automatically rubber-stamped by an ever-willing Congress.

What do you think of this analysis is (1) crazy (2) possible but improbable (3) possible and likely (4) Likely - lets help prevent it (5) It's too late to do anything constructive. Please think about it.

"What's Going On?" A Vietnam-Era Song Rings True Today

By Marjorie Cohn, AlterNet, December 28, 2006

In 1971, singer Marvin Gaye raised hackles when he tried to make sense of the madness of the Vietnam War by asking, "What's Going On?" He sang:
Mother, mother/ There's too many of you crying/ Brother, brother, brother/ There's far too many of you dying/ You know we've got to find a way/ To bring some lovin' here today -- Ya/ Father, father/ We don't need to escalate/ You see, war is not the answer/ For only love can conquer hate/ You know we've got to find a way/ To bring some loving' here today.

The song, told from the perspective of a returning Vietnam veteran, was inspired by Gaye's brother who had recently returned from that disastrous war.

Gaye would be asking the same question if he were alive today. Nearly 3,000 U.S. soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis have died. A brutal civil war continues to escalate, aggravated by intense opposition to the U.S. occupation. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, Colin Powell, General John Abazaid -- commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East who just resigned -- and the vast majority of the American people oppose sending more U.S. troops to Iraq. Yet George W. Bush is planning to do just that.

Even staunch Republicans like MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough, who supported the war and voted twice for Bush, is asking what's going on. On his December 20 show, Scarborough was appalled by Bush's statement, "I encourage you all to go shopping more." MSNBC analyst Mike Barnacle noted that "this President is isolated, delusional, and stubborn." Bush's "delusion," according to Barnacle, is going to result in the deaths and carnage of our troops and people throughout the Middle East. "I don't think [Bush] knows what he's saying . . . He is totally isolated from reality," Barnacle added. "The deaths of American soldiers now verges on the criminal."
