Cheney's Formula For Endless War and
U.S. Empire
Comment by Larry Ross, October 18, 2005
The following speech by U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, (often described
as the real President), supplies the ideological doctrine for waging endless
war.
In the process, a corporate-fascist-military state will evolve out of
what's left of the dwindling U.S. democracy. It will be done in the name
of extending freedom and democracy. People expressing dissent and criticism
will be suppressed and labelled 'terrorist sympathiser', like dissenters
and critics were once labelled 'communist sympathiser'. As always most
media will act mainly as pro-war propagandists and supporters. They will
repeat the big lies as they did for the Iraq war and skirt or suppress
the truth.
U.S. strategy is to create the 'so-called ' terrorist threat' which can
then be used to justify targeting any nation the U.S. selects in its endless
war on terror (GWOT). By attacking various countries, which they justify
by lies, as in Iraq, the Bush Administration makes an endless supply of
enemies. Bush and his neocons then label them as 'terrorists'. They blame
neighbouring nations for helping these 'terrorists' and proceed with the
next phase in the U.S. PNAC expansionist plan.
The neocon organisation, PNAC, now dominates the Bush Administration.
They wrote, well before 9/11, that the U.S. needs "a new Pearl Harbour"
to justify launching their plan for U.S. expansionism and empire.
The 9/11 attack in 2001, became
the new 'Pearl Harbour' - the foundation stone used to justify the Iraq
war. But Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, terrorism, Bin Laden, al-Qaeda,
had no WMD or plans to attack the US and UK. The whole war was totally
phoney from the beginning
Nevertheless the series of now exposed lies and false accusations, does
not stop Bush and Tony Blair from waging a particularly brutal war and
planning new wars against Iraq's neighbours - Iran and Syria - using similar
techniques of false and specious accusations. Bush and Blair even threatened
to use nuclear weapons to achieve what they knew were false and illegal
objectives, if Iraq resisted with chemical weapons. That is a form of
nuclear blackmail, as it could lead to global destruction. They threatened
to start a process which could escalate and destroy the world if they
don't get their way. It's a very, very dangerous game.
Bush even has an ideology - Christian Fundamentalism - which he uses to
justify such crimes. He says he consults God and God approves of what
he is doing. Bush is comforted by the Fundamentalist belief that promises
he will be raptured directly to heaven if his 'just' wars escalate to
a nuclear Armageddon. Responsibilities for the welfare of fellow Americans
and others in the world, are not as important as what Bush claims is his
duty to God. It is very like the medieval crusades - this time with nuclear
weapons.
Millions and millions of fellow Americans believe him. With other right-wing
Americans they voted him into a second term in 2004 - in spite of reports
of election fraud the unfashionable weakness of Kerry'ys Democrats. This
gives Bush four more years to implement PNAC's plans.
As the U.S. Military is fully extended in Iraq and in 120 other countries,
Bush had the Pentagon design a nuclear attack plan to use on Iran. Bush,
Blair, Howard, and others in the 'Coalition of the willing', will probably
claim they had to use nuclear weapons (the enormous U.S. and UK military
advantage), to defeat 'terrorist' Iran and perhaps other selected enemies.
Most pro-war media propagandists will agree.
Cheney expounds on his global war on terror ideology as detailed in his
speech and the following excellent analysis by Michel Chossudovsky.

War without
Borders: Continuous Warfare for Decades to Come
Dick Cheney's "Global War on Terrorism" (GWOT)

Research, October 8, 2005
Vice President Cheney in a recent speech
to US military personnel has acknowledged that the war could go on for
several decades. This statement, which reveals the Bush Administration's
commitment to global warfare, was barely mentioned by the mainstream media.
We are dealing with a "military roadmap".
Iraq and Afghanistan are at the outset of the Bush administration's military
adventure.
Cheney warned that the US will be involved
in war for decades to come:
Like other great duties in history, it will
require decades of patient effort, and it will be resisted by those whose
only hope for power is through the spread of violence.
War without Borders
What is referred to in military parlance
as GWOT (The Global War on Terrorism) requires, according to Cheney, the
deployment of US forces Worldwide in more than one hundred countries rather
than in a select number of overseas military bases::
American soldiers are currently serving in
120 countries, and the Army remains an active, visible sign of America's
commitments -- defending our interests, standing by our friends, keeping
patient vigil against possible dangers, and, above all, directly engaging
the enemies of the United States.
