Close to War ? Comment by Larry Ross, September 11, 2006 Here is another article by a reliable dedicated peace worker, Bruce Gagnon. It tells of U.S.-Israeli preparations for cruise missile attacks on Iran or Syria. When they bombed Lebanon close to the Syrian border, they were trying to provoke some military response from Syria. If they got a response they would use that as an excuse to launch attacks on Syria. Israel used the Lebanese capture of 2 Israeli soldiers as their excuse to launch a pre-planned attack on Lebanon and the UN Observation Post in Lebanon. This was seen by many as a preparation for an attack on Iran. The U.S. works in collusion with Israel in all it's Middle East wars. If Israel is attacked as a response to Israeli initial attacks, that can give the U.S. an excuse to enter the conflict on Israel's side. That may be the tactic they plan to use. If Israel attacks Iran and Iran responds with a counter attack, Bush may claim the U.S. must help it's ally - Israel. Few mention that Israel has enough nuclear weapons to destroy any other Middle East country. The Israelis are trying to make that a taboo subject that is not mentioned.

U.S. & Israel Selecting Targets for Cruise Missile First-Strike Attack Multiple military sources have told the Global Network that Pentagon personnel responsible for selecting targets for cruise missile first strike attacks have been sent to Israel. This indicates that U.S. and Israeli military strategists are now likely meeting to plan a join attack on Syria and/or Iran. The Persian Gulf war and the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq both began with cruise missile attacks by the U.S. from Naval ships. It would be wise to recognize that Bush has decided to expand the current war and chaos into the entire Middle East region. The implications for the U.S. will be enormous. Israel's recent bombing of Lebanon near the Syrian border indicate to me that they are trying to draw a response from Syria. So far Syria has not responded. Look for more such efforts by Israel and the U.S. to provoke Syria. I would highly recommend local peace groups call on their members of Congress and ask them to speak out against a further widening of this already insane war. Bruce K. Gagnon
