U.S.
Promotes Arab Hatred
Comment by Larry Ross, February 17, 2006
By a series of atrocities, torture, murder and shaming of Arab prisoners
at Abu Ghraib, and at U.S. and allied prisons throughout the world,
mass bombing and slaughter of civilians in Iraq, and many other techniques,
the Bush regime is doing everything it can to promote Arab hatred against
the U.S., more terrorist incidents, civil war and chaos. It all helps
condition Americans to fear 'Arab terrorism', justify the war, and create
the grounds for expansion of war in the middle east.
Worst Case Scenario
More terrorist incidents in the U.S. will boost Bush's declining popularity.
The people will turn to their hero to save them from the terrorists,
as in the 9/11 attack and Bush's illegal war against Iraq that followed.
New draconian fascist type 'patriot' laws will breeze through Congress,
as Bush blames the selected enemy (probably Iran) for this latest terrorist
outrage. Most Americans will believe their born-again Christian leader
and support his new war - even the use of weapons of mass destruction.
Verifiable proofs will not be required. Doctored intelligence and accusations
will be sufficient as they were with the Iraq war.
Can the Americans be fooled again?
If the media act as Bush propagandists again, anything is possible.
Will Americans accept, if not support the use of nuclear weapons, or
it's equivalent, against the new enemy? If the atrocity is big enough,
and the media is as co-operative as it was for Bush's Iraq war I think
a majority of Americans will support whatever Bush does. The American
masses have established themselves as the most gullible, easily manipulated
people in history - because they are taught not to think, but to believe
whatever their authorities and propaganda newspapers and TV tell them.
There is a risk that it may become the same in New Zealand, the UK and
Australia, where most papers follow the Bush line and do not print articles
exposing Bush lies and crimes.
Bush might risk using nuclear weapons and this could escalate into many
directions, with fatal consequences for the world.
The new nuclear doctrines are ready. Bush has licensed the U.S. to use
pre-emptive nuclear strikes as well as introduce nuclear weapons into
conventional military operations. That's fine with the UK and Australia.
The introduction of these terrifying new doctrines has been seamless
and apparently widely accepted by governments and people. The media,
when it has referred to the new doctrines at all, has downplayed their
importance and generally acted as if this is the most natural, normal
thing in the world. No worries about the consequences of nuclear war,
and possible escalation to doomsday. The arrogance, hubris and sheer
joyful criminality is staggering as Bush prepares for his next big slaughter.
Media co-operation and agreement to act as propagandists for the Bush
Administration, including covering up it's lies, and not publishing
the facts are absolutely vital to the success of the Bush Neocon plan
for global domination. As America demonstrates so well, keeping the
people ignorant of the facts makes them easy to manipulate in any direction
no matter how flagrantly unbelievable and dangerous it may be.
How to stop it?
Everyone has a stake in exposing Bush's lies, crimes and madness before
he embarks on his next major crime. The future of humanity depends on
stopping the Bush juggernaut before it's too late. Once he starts it
and makes his first strike against Iran, the momentum for war will be
unstoppable. The results - unthinkable.
The build-up to this is taking place right now.

Abu Ghraib photos fuel Arab anger
against US
From
STUFF,
February 17, 2006
SYDNEY: Previously unpublished images of abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu
Ghraib prison were shown on an Australian television station broadcast,
fuelling more Arab anger against the United States.
The Special Broadcasting Service's "Dateline"
current affairs programme said the images were recorded at the same time
as the now-infamous pictures of US soldiers abusing Abu Ghraib detainees
which sparked international outrage in 2004.
Some of the images were shown last year at
trials in Fort Hood, Texas, including against abuse ringleader Charles
Graner who is now serving a ten-year prison sentence. One official who
reviewed the newly broadcast images on Wednesday and compared them to
some of the photos stored on Graner's computer said they were the same.
"The overwhelming majority of the photos
I've seen are photos that have been in existence for years that ....
