FLOODS

I wonder if we can we please have a bit less drama in the reporting of devastation and death that results from flooding. In February it was the southern part of the North Island, then Niue, a month ago Fiji......
As global warming kick in, we must expect these kind of events to become the norm, a natural consequence of politicians failure worldwide to address the matter of escalating emissions and the business sector's assumption that everything it does is good for humanity.

NUCLEAR POWER : FURTHER TO JAMES LOVELOCK'S COMMENTS YESTERDAY

Nuclear energy does generate huge carbon dioxide emissions, it's just that nobody bothers to count them.

The production of concrete and steel generate massive quantities of carbon dioxide, so the construction of nuclear plants, which are constructed of massive quantities of both, incurs a huge carbon dioxide debt for a start.

Then all the uranium used in plants is dug out the ground, transported around the world and processed by global warming processes.

All these discussions are dependent on public ignorance of basic scientific facts about what generates carbon dioxide and what doesn't.

James Lovelock's error in overlooking the 'hidden' emissions is regrettable.

The best solution to all these problems, less energy consumption, will soon be forced upon us.
