Feedback on Nuclear Free
NZ issues raised on "Agenda" TVNZ 1, Sunday August 13.

US President Bush's nuclear weapons policy and pre-emptive war policy
are major reasons why New Zealand should not change it's nuclear free
legislation. He is planning to make new nuclear weapons and resume testing,
and has sabotaged the nuclear non-proliferation treaty conference.
Also, he launched a war on Iraq based on a litany of lies without UN approval
and has killed over 100,000 Iraqi people. He and Tony Blair even risked
a nuclear war by threatening to use their nuclear weapons if they encountered
any defence by Saddam Hussein involving use of WMD. Bush continues the
slaughter even though he has Saddam Hussein in prison, there were no Iraq
plans to attack either the US, UK or other nations. Saddam was not making
nuclear weapons and had no links to al-Qaeda. Although there are 8 nuclear
weapon states, including Israel with at least 200 nuclear weapons, Bush
warns he may start a war with Iran because it might start to make nuclear
weapons. That could lead to major war, even nuclear war.
Bush's nuclear policies call for including nuclear weapons as one of the
options that local commanders may recommend in conventional war situations.
That is a very big change from previous US policy of using nuclear weapons
only as a last resort in extreme situations. It means risking an escalation
to global nuclear war and the destruction of civilisation.
These are points that should have been raised with ex-US Deputy Secretary
Kenneth Dawn when talking about NZ-US relations.
They are strong reasons for keeping New Zealand nuclear-free.
Sincerely
