Unthinkable War on Iran Comment by Larry Ross, January 14, 2007
He mentioned the possibility of the Bush regime staging a "False Flag" operation as follows.... several analysts have focused on the creation of a "Gulf of Tonkin incident", which would be "used by the Bush Administration as war pretext incident, namely a justification for waging war on Iran." I believe this to be true and that staging successful "False Flag" incidents are the secret of the success of the Bush Administration. By success I refer to the fact that the Bush Administration is still in power, and is pursuing its pre-planned agenda of making a nuclear attack on Iran. It is not be popular any more with the American people, with only a 30% popularity rating. But they have enormous power for another two years to make war. The opposition continues to be weak, ineffectual and many democrats are implicated. Many defend Bush's lies, and enjoy the patronage of the military/industrial complex in order to be elected. If we survive the initial phases of a nuclear war, Bush is likely to put the US under some kind of military martial law or PR equivalent. That will stop the protests, criticism or truth from being exposed. US elections may be postponed, as the apparatus of a police state is further imposed on the US. Talk of impeachment or the other possibilities to stop Bush that once existed in US democracy, will be dead issues. The twilight period of American democracy is now, when various steps, such as impeachment proceedings could still be successful. There really is precious little time left for people to still exercise their freedoms and preferences. I hope the dead hand of apathy ends soon, before our children's future is destroyed.

The Unthinkable: The US- Israeli Nuclear War on Iran by Michel Chossudovsky, Global Research, January 21, 2007
At no point since the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945, has humanity been closer to the unthinkable, a nuclear holocaust which could potentially spread, in terms of radioactive fallout, over a large part of the Middle East. There is mounting evidence that the Bush Administration in liaison with Israel and NATO is planning the launching of a nuclear war against Iran, ironically, in retaliation for its nonexistent nuclear weapons program. The US-Israeli military operation is said to be in "an advanced state of readiness". If such a plan were to be launched, the war would escalate and eventually engulf the entire Middle-East Central Asian region. The war could extend beyond the region, as some analysts have suggested, ultimately leading us into a World War III scenario. In this regard, the structure of military alliances is crucial. China and Russia have entered into farreaching military cooperation agreements with Iran. The latter have a direct bearing on the conflict. Iran possesses an advanced air defense system as well as capabilities to target US and allied positions in Iraq and the Gulf States, as demonstrated in recent military exercises. The US-led naval deployment (involving a massive deployment of military hardware) is taking place in two distinct theaters:the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean. |
