Nuclear Bomb Opponents

Comment by Larry Ross, September 5, 2005

The following is another example of how the American people are being conditioned to accept the use of nuclear weapons to achieve the will of their President. Bush creates a phoney situation, launches a totally unjustified war on Iraq based on a number of untrue accusations; then accuses other middle east nations, such as Syria, of hindering his conquests, even if his accusations are themselves untrue. Then one of his mindless disciples, such as Rep Sam Johnston, call for the US to commit the greatest crime in history - the unprovoked use of nuclear weapons - to enforce Bush's will in the deliberately manufactured situation.

Millions of Americans will be appalled, but millions of Bush supporters will be persuaded that this is the right thing to do.

Increasingly, Bush supporters believe they have some kind of divine right to launch a nuclear armageddon against any imagined opponents, or nations which the Bush Administration claims are opponents.

Bush has prepared his public by

  1. withdrawing from international nuclear disarmament treaties
  2. lowering the nuclear war threshold by saying nuclear weapons can be integrated into conventional military operations
  3. planning to make new nuclear weapons
  4. saying local US military commanders can recommend the use of nuclear weapons
  5. naming certain nations that the US may use nuclear weapons against
  6. naming 3 international flash points where the US may use nuclear weapons to achieve it's objectives.

The mass media wont tell you, but all Bush's nuclear policies violate the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and the other international nuclear disarmament treaties that he has withdrawn from.

Could someone please explain why there has been such an amazing lack of public response?

Member Of U.S. Congress Calls for Nuking Syria

By ADC, March 2, 2005
http://207.44.245.159/article8194.htm

Washington, DC -- Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) has advocated for attacking Syria with nuclear weapons. Rep. Johnson was quoted telling a recent church gathering, "Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore." The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is outraged at Rep. Johnson's statement advocating for mass destruction and genocide and views this as a sad day in our country's tradition when an elected member of the United States Congress openly advocates for attacking another country with nuclear weapons.

ADC calls upon Rep. Johnson to provide an immediate and public explanation for his remarks. Additionally, ADC calls on the White House to publicly distance itself from such un-American views. In a letter faxed to Rep. Johnson today, former congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar, president of ADC, said, "While we recognize the current differences between the Bush Administration and the Syrian Government, these differences should be addressed in negotiations at the conference table, in coordination with our international partners, rather than confrontation in the battle field by using nuclear weapons," Oakar continued, "Advocating for genocide by nuclear attack against any country is completely unacceptable and contrary to our American values and traditions."

Oakar said, "These remarks have no place in the United States Congress."
