U.S. Sets Up Legal Contortions To Justify Nuclear Attack Comment by Larry Ross, November 5, 2006
The U.S. has gone to considerable lengths to set up a situation in the UN where it can claim UN approval to legally use nuclear weapons against Iran . Professor Hirsch shows how this was done. Although it may not have been the intention of any state other than Israel to give such approval for any such action, the U.S. has an objective and a plan - and that plan includes making war on Iran . All kinds of dupliciity, chicanery and pressure has been used to achieve this end, so that they can actually argue that the UN resolution and sanctions against Iran gave them approval to use force against Iran - even nuclear weapons. However to get over the hurdle of the antipathy to the use of nuclear weapons by publics and governments, the U.S. may employ a very special, seldom used tactic. Something like a "False Flag' operation in which the U.S. stages an alleged 'terrorist attack' on the U.S. and blames Iran in order to justify U.S. use of nuclear weapons against Iran as retribution for this atrocity. Who among a poorly informed, misinformed, unprepared, frightened U.S. public, would think the ruling Bush Administration would do such an act against their own people? Very few. With no knowledge or education about such tactics being used previously, few would even imagine such a thing happening. The same with most governments. In short the U.S. could get away with it as they have before with the fake North Vietnamese attack on U.S. destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1965. They needed such an act to justify escalating the war in South Vietnam to North Vietnam . And the U.S. Senate approved the escalation. Similarly with the alleged Spanish sinking of the Maine to justify a U.S. war with Spain over Cuba . The most famous 'False Flag' operation was done by Adolph Hitler, who ordered his Nazis to secretly burn down the Reichstag in 1933, then blame terrorists for this act. Hitler used this to justify installing a dictatorship and starting a series of wars across Europe , culminating in World War II and 50 million dead. The U.S. has used a series of false excuses to justify a similar march across the Middle East starting with their war on Afghanistan . Then it was Iraq , and now the U.S. is beating the war drums to make war on Iran and Syria . An important event was the Pentagon plan for a "False Flag" attack on the U.S. in 1962 called Operation Northwoods . Cuba was to be blamed in order to justify a U.S. war on Cuba . All the U.S. military Joint Chiefs of Staff approved this plan. The Pentagon details on Operation Northwoods are now available for public inspection as the 44 year old material is now declassified. So anyone wishing to confirm that this operation almost took place, and that the U.S. and many other states have engaged in this tactic since the year 1600, need only Google "False Flag Operations" and/or "Operation Northwoods ". There are literally millions of articles confirming that this exceptionally evil and duplicitous type of operation does take place. Luckily President Kennedy rejected Operation Northwoods in 1962, so it never happened. Kennedy was then murdered in Dallas in 1962 - allegedly by a man called Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald was then murdered a few days later while in police custody by a small-time gangster called Jack Ruby. Ruby claimed he was acting out of sympathy for Jackie Kennedy, the slain president's wife. A highly unlikely story. But Ruby was never allowed to be interviewed and died soon after in prison. The whole scenario was very, very unlikely from A to Z. Their were many books and commentaries written about it expressing doubts about the official story, many questions and theories that the assassination was an inside job and that Oswald was set up as a patsy. For many people it is still an unsolved mystery and the real murderers have never been prosecuted. The government's famous ' Warren Commission' report, supposedly on the circumstances surrounding the Kennedy assassination, was widely condemned as a whitewash with glaring errors and many unanswered questions that still remain to this day. The Bush Administration has a reputation as one of the most dangerous, irrational and now unpopular regimes in U.S. history. It is now becoming desperate and could be prosecuted for war crimes and indicted for conspiracy and treason against the U.S. Constitution. It has the profile and motives to use some kind of 'False Flag' operation. With continuing and unquestioning media support it would increase it's popularity and power, supply the excuse it needs to make war on Iran, quiet down and even imprison domestic dissenters, install a de-facto 'democratic' dictatorship, install conscription, and once again have unlimited access to the U.S. Treasury for waging it's pre-planned war on Iran and other wars to follow and rewarding the chosen few with no-bid contracts and the usual huge profits for the military-industrial-political complex. Endless wars mean endless profits. That the U.S. will go to any lengths and tell any lies to implement their master plan to dominate the Middle East and control it's oil, is well-illustrated by their war on Iraq. In spite of extensive exposure and refutation of these lies, the U.S. carries on its war on Iraq as if the lies are still valid. This illegal war has murdered 655,000 people without cause. The Bush Administration is guilty of multiple war crimes. Every lawyer who knows anything about international law knows this is so. Every government knows it is so. About the only people who do not know are the majority of grossly uninformed and misinformed American and allied publics. Except for the small minority of Americans and others who make it their job to learn the facts and try to do something about it, few opponents of Bushism actually do much to express their opposition. In previous times evil regimes lacked the means to extend and perpetuate themselves and conquer the world. Hitler tried and almost succeeded. Luckily he failed. The Americans played a great role in the defeat of Hitler. Unfortunately evil how now triumphed in America , as it did in Germany under Hitler However there has been a quantum leap. Today an evil regime has the key to enough nuclear, biological and chemical weapons to destroy every living thing on earth several times over. Their new nuclear and related doctrines give them the power to use and perpetuate that power. They have legalized it. Every objective expert I have read on nuclear war has said that the use of nuclear weapons is very likely to quickly escalate to widespread use and global nuclear war. That would end humanity. So there is far more at stake today than ever before in human history. The motives for people becoming interested and involved are far higher today. It is a bigger more immediate and growing threat than any other threat to human existence, even global warming. I hope more people research the situation come to similar conclusions, and take appropriate action.

A Legal US Nuclear Attack Against Iran The real reason for the IAEA Iran resolution By Jorge Hirsch, AntiWar November 12, 2005
On September 24 of this year, the United States finally achieved a goal it had persistently pursued over several years. Iran was declared by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) to be in "non compliance" with its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The resolution passed by the IAEA is remarkably weak. It does not set a date for Iran to be referred to the UN Security Council, and it does not even mention the possibility of sanctions. It even notes that Iran has made "good progress" in correcting its "breaches," all of which date back to before October 2003. The LA Times characterized it as a " gentle slap ." It is instead an enormous thud. We pointed out before that the probable reason for the U.S. to insist on the passage of such a weak resolution (on the face of opposition by Russia and China to stronger resolutions) was to reach a stalemate in the Security Council that would provide an excuse for U.S. military action, which would necessarily include the use of nuclear weapons against Iran [1] , [2] , [3] . There is, however, an even stronger reason for the U.S. to have pushed for this resolution so adamantly, a reason which is valid even if Iran is not referred to the Security Council at the forthcoming November 24 meeting or thereafter, and that supports the predicted scenario. The IAEA resolution of September 24 2005 allows the United States to carry out a nuclear attack against Iran "legally." Non-nuclear states have sought for many years that nuclear states issue clear "negative security assurances," meaning a committment from nuclear states not to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states. No matter how logical such a desire appears to you and me, nuclear states have been notoriously reluctant to make such pledges, especially the United States. The latest such assurances from the five nuclear states date back to 1995, and are the subject of UN Security Council Resolution 984 , which was passed with unanimity. The legal status of these assurances is not totally clear, and non-nuclear states have continued to request "legally binding" assurances, implying that the existing assurances are not. In fact, in 2002 John Bolton, then Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, in an interview with "Arms Control Today" explicitly disavowed any U.S. committment to the 1995 resolution.

UN Security Council bows to US pressure for a statement against Iran by Peter Symonds, March 31, 2006 After three weeks of behind-the-scenes US bullying, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a statement on Wednesday calling on Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program and giving the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 30 days to report back. Although amended at the insistence of Russia and China, the statement provides Washington with the pretext for escalating the confrontation with Tehran and its threats of punitive sanctions and military action. |
