Sheehan Magnifies Fissures on Iraq
By David Greene

“The fact that Sheehan's message has caught fire has as much to do with the political climate as it does with her personal campaign.”
NPR.org, August 23, 2005 · If Cindy Sheehan's peace vigil outside President Bush's ranch has demonstrated nothing else, it has shown that the politics of war can be treacherous. And it doesn't matter which side you're on.

- Cindy Sheehan says she's tried to keep the focus of her protest on the immorality of the war in Iraq, but she's found this month that it's difficult to keep the spotlight off herself.

"I am not the issue," she said on her Web blog. "The issue is a disastrous war that's killing our sons and daughters and making our country less secure. They attack me because they can no longer defend this war."
