US Plans To Stay in Iraq Comment by Larry Ross, March 22, 2007
This Imperial complex of 21 buildings on 104 acres in the heart of Baghdad , with 5,000 employees, must be intended to be much more than just an embassy to Iraq . It looks like some kind of permanent headquarters for the US in the Middle East - perhaps a centre for directing most regional US operations in the area. Continuing the US-sponsored civil war in Iraq, and maintaining a weak puppet regime, or series of puppets answerable to Washington, will help perpetuate 'their need and request for' US military occupation 'to defeat the terrorists' and ensure that ' Iraq's new freedom and democracy' will prevail. Also, the US Democratic Party needs a steady flow of propaganda reasons to justify to US voters their continuing support and funding the wars of the Bush regime. Bush is supplying the US Congress with lots of lies and phoney justifications, and they are responding as programmed. A final act to usher in a bare-knuckle dictatorship in the US , and also usher in an even more simpering Democratic rubber stamp Congress, will likely be a 'false flag' operation staged by the Bush Administration. Or some similar event. The US will allegedly be horrifyingly attacked by terrorists, resulting in a high death toll of Americans. Iran will them be blamed and give Bush the excuse he has created to justify using Nuclear weapons against Iran. Just about everyone, especially the Democratic opposition will seize on this happening to justify giving Bush everything he wants. They did it after the 9/11 attack in 2001 and Bush is counting on them doing it again in 2007. Bush is blessed by the fact that Americans have an extremely short memory and very poor deductive and analytical skills. THEY KNOW SOMETHING UNUSUAL IS HAPPENING, BUT MOST DON'T SEEM ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT. If they do bother to have a look, they tend to deny and forget the horror that they see. They have been conditioned by their propaganda mass media to believe anything their imperial presidency tells them. 9/11 raised Bush's popularity by 40 points and made him the hero who was defending America against the terrorists. Now Bush's popularity has dropped to the lowest ever at about 30 points, and the public are much more suspicious of what he says. So another spectacular terrorist attack is about the only medicine that would immediately boost Bush's popularity and credibility, as well as generating public approval for a new war on Iran. Bush knows he can count on the media, and most politicians, to act as if they believe that the new 'false flag' attack originated with Iran. In fact Bush has already prepared the ground by warning the public of a new terrorist attack on the US. So if he engineers such an attack, people will say 'our wise leader was so right in his predictions of a terrorist attack etc." Bush's popularity will soar again as he again becomes the hero saving, and avenging America against the terrorists. He will be well-positioned to get whatever he wants from Congress; including new draconian laws to establish a de-facto dictatorship 'to protect American values and democracy', etc. Doubting comment or exposures will be suppressed by an ever-obedient media. Expect dissenters to either disappear, die in mysterious deaths, such as 'plane accidents' or be imprisoned as 'enemy combatants'. That is the kind of scenario ahead for Americans unless they impeach Bush now, and/or take other remedial action to stop the Bush regime. An attack on Iran is likely soon. Iran is surrounded by US battleships, aircraft bases and ground forces, and nuclear weapons and the attack is predicted before the end of April 2007. So if you wish to prevent a horrific calamity, with continuing disasters, even a World War III, it's time to move now. For those that think this scenario is all rubbish, I suggest they search Google for "False Flag Operations" and "False Flags Against Iran". Also, there are over a million articles on the planned "US War On Iran". Have a look first before closing your mind, and then decide if it is a possible and probable prediction of events.

The Problem with Building an Embassy Fit for an Empire by
Adil E. Shamoo,
Baltimore Sun, March 21, 2007 This is the story I expect to read one day within the next decade. In the 1950s, when I was in high school in Baghdad, my friends and I admired the technological advances of America and the West. But we resented the colonial tendencies of the West (especially, at the time, those of the British). Many demonstrations were held in front of the British and American embassies. The Iraqis are a proud people, and they resented foreigners meddling in their affairs. And the British were, in reality, running the country through a puppet regime. You may call it false pride; you may call it a preoccupation with dignity; or you may simply call it an honest concern about sovereignty. In any case, this is what the culture of the region dictates. So, with this in mind, why has Washington never taken the cultural context of the Iraqis into consideration? Instead, Congress has appropriated nearly $1 billion to build the largest embassy in the world. A significant portion of that money is for security infrastructure. This future "fortress" is housed in Saddam Hussein's former palace - providing more bad symbolism to the Iraqis. Why are we building such a mammoth embassy in the heart of Baghdad? The embassy complex is on 104 acres, with 21 buildings and facilities. It will eventually house a U.S. staff of 5,000. According to a recent report in The Washington Post, it has more than twice the staff and 20 times the budget of our Beijing embassy. The embassy will surpass all others in terms of size and staffing. One would think that we would be more clever than that in camouflaging our occupation. Are we to believe that Iraqis will not take notice of this massive complex in the heart of Baghdad? |
