US Democrats Corrupted

Comment by Larry Ross, March 21, 2007

This shows how pressure from the Zionist lobby and the Bush regime has made Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the House, give Bush an open door to make war on Iran. Pelosi uses the lame excuse that she was only giving Bush the right to "put all options on the table" when negotiating with Iran over differences.

This reaction either shows total and profound ignorance of the situation, or corrupt duplicity in enabling Bush to make war without hindrance or seeking permission from a Democratic Congress recently elected to stop Bush's wars.

(1) The main issue, not mentioned by Pat Buchanan, or recognised by Pelosi, is that Bush's illegal, unjustified war against Iraq, and slaughter of 655,000++ people there is all based on lies told to the US people and Congress. This has made Bush and his Administration multiple war criminals. A de-facto war criminal regime has no rights to negotiate with any other state about their alleged conduct. By denying the simple facts behind the Iraq war, Pelosi has enabled Bush to do as he pleases, and demonstrated that she, and the Democratic Party, accepts the series of deceits behind the war, as valid and not open to question. If effect, she has made herself and colleagues a co-operating part of Bush's war machine.

(2) The same type of lies Bush used to justify his illegal attacks and continuing bombing of Iraq, is now being used to justify a war with Iran.

Pelosi apparently accepts this new set of lies as truth. She does not question them. The basic lie is that Iran is using its enrichment programme as a cover to make nuclear weapons to attack Iran. (a) She does not mention that the UN's IAEA inspectors found no evidence that Iran has nuclear weapons, or that is has any programme to make nuclear weapons. (b) She does not mention that Israel has some 200-400 nuclear weapons, and the US over 10,000, and they could annihilate non-nuclear Iran in a few hours. (c) She does not mention that the Bush Administration, pledged to nuclear disarm under the NPT, has not only not done so, but has a program to make new nuclear weapons and new doctrines passed by the US Congress allowing then to wage pre-emptive nuclear war and/or introduce nuclear weapons use into conventional conflicts.

(3) The US  Zionist lobby and present Israeli government have made many extreme war threats toward Iran . By avoiding facts, they also have constructed a number of false justifications to make war on Iran . They depict Iran  as an extreme nuclear threat to Israel, when it has no nuclear weapons and Israel has the world's 6th largest nuclear weapon arsenal. Israel could annihilate Iran anytime. The Zionist and Israeli government know this and deliberately invent lies and war propaganda to cover up these facts and present the opposite to a gullible public. Because of co-operating pro-war mass media and commentators, who are unrelenting in presenting Israel's pro-war propaganda, they are managing to have their lies believed as truth.

Pelosi, by not mentioning these easily verifiable facts, shows herself and Party as accepting the lies and all the policies that may result from those lies.

It could become millions of deaths, and horrific long-term consequences for everyone, including the US public.

That is the spineless Pelosi and Democratic Party gift to the American public for their support in the last election.

The AIPAC Girl

by Patrick J. Buchanan, March 20, 2007

If George W. Bush launches a pre-emptive war on Iran, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will bear full moral responsibility for that war.

For it was Pelosi who quietly agreed to strip out of the $100 billion funding bill for Iraq a provision that would have required President Bush to seek congressional approval before launching any new war on Iran.

Pelosi's capitulation came in the Appropriations Committee.

What went down, and why?

"Conservative Democrats as well as lawmakers concerned about the possible impact on Israel had argued for the change in strategy," wrote The Associated Press' David Espo and Matthew Lead.

"Rep. Shelley Berkley (news, bio, voting record), D-Nev., said in an interview there is a widespread fear in Israel about Iran, which ... has expressed unremitting hostility to the Jewish state.
