The GOP refusal to investigate comes despite persistent questions about the veracity of the Bush administration's evidence and the president's statements on the threat Iraq presented to the United States leading up to the recent war.

Americans deserve to know the truth about why we went to war in Iraq. So Republican lawmakers -- when they're not at flag-waving photo ops -- leave the children of military families out of their tax bill and try to use the Homeland Security bill to do special interest favors. (See Roy Blunt, above, and there also was the vaccine provision surreptitiously inserted into last year's homeland security bill, a provision that would have protected pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly from suits by parents.)

Now we have the spectacle of Senator Larry Craig (R-ID) holding up the promotions of 850 Air Force officers because he's demanding that the Air Force do something for his state.

So far, the White House has been absolutely silent. Maybe when he comes back from his latest photo-op, someone should tell President Bush what is going on in his Republican party!
